Service Link
The message reads: For all closings that take place after 3:00pm on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, the entire closing package MUST be faxed back to 877-798-2801.
For alll other closings that are taking place throughout the week, please ensure that the packages are dropped immediately following the closing.
If they are not dropped off or picked up the same day as the closing, the documents NEED to be faxed to the aforementioned fax number. Alot of our signings are performed in the evening or on weekends whe UPS and FED EX are closed. I would like to know how you are handling this. Are you faxing back the entire package. This fax number is different from the fax number where the critical docs are to be faxed. So, are you faxing back the entire package to one fax number and then faxing the criticals to another fax number. Are charging an additional fee for this service??

Re: Service Link Fax Backs...
I sent, on Monday, a Service Link package that was signed on Friday evening. No mention was made anywhere that I could find of a new requirement to fax back the entire package if signing occurred on the weekend, & I read all the instructions three times. I sorta thought it odd that they didn't require something like that, since the RTC expires on the same day that they receive the documents. There seems to be different offices for Service Link; maybe this is a new requirement of only one of they're offices ?
I sure wish they would use FedEx (which is open & ships on Saturdays).

Re: Service Link Fax Backs...
My fax machine is a Brother Multifunction and I got past the "mass" faxback problem by scanning to PDF and attaching to a return email. The scanner will finish a 200 copy package in less than 10 minutes with the document feeder and I convert the output to PDF with a $50.00 Nitro Professional Doc Managing program I bought at Office Max. The other hassle is that if you are faxing from a private residence you have the problem of a "poor line condition" which may terminate a large fax (over 20 pages) anywhere within the transmission. Then you have to figure out which pages went through and may have to send the thing 3 or 4 or more times. Ask if you can charge extra or accept email on docs.... or maybe forget it.

Re: Service Link Fax Backs...
I haven't had the issue but they would get a call from me to increase the fee. I have no interest in babysitting a fax machine. The machine will do everything on ya - paper jam, failed line, you name it. Some other sorry bloke can do that.

MrEd. UPS ships out on Saturdays from their stores.
Are you sure there isn't one in your area? Mine is in a local chain grocery store.

UPS charges more for Saturday shipments
I've been told by a couple of my companies not to ship out on Saturday due to an increase fee by UPS for packages that go out on Saturday.

Re: UPS charges more for Saturday shipments..Al
I thought it was Saturday DELIVERIES that were additional cost - I know Sat delivery charges apply to both FedEx and UPS - UPS has scheduled shipping up until about 2:00 pm and I personally have never been told by UPS staff that it's extra...
Going to have to check - I ship out on Saturdays many times -

Re: UPS charges more for Saturday shipments..Al
There is no additional charge for fedex or ups shipments sent on Saturday from a Ups Authorized Shipping Outlet or a FedEx Authorized Ship Center. If they come to you there is an additional charge of $15.

Nope, I meant what I said
I've had two companies in the past that have told me not to send a UPS package out on Saturday to be delivered for Monday because they get charged more. Maybe its changed, maybe they were wrong, maybe they were making it up (wouldn't be the first time a SS did that). I've never verified it with UPS, I just followed their instructions.

Its been pretty much the same for the last 10-15 years. The title/ss has no way to know how you will handle it and probably does not want to pay the $15 dollar pickup charge.

I have been personally charged by UPS on my own account..
for personal pkg sent through a UPS store on Saturday. Think that it was about $10 as I recall I ty to avoid shiiping UPS on Sat, except for Friday PM closings.

Re: Service Link Fax Backs...
Why would they require the full package to be faxed to an office that's probably unmanned? It's been my experience that no one is available after 6:00 their local time, nor on weekends and holidays, so I have indicated to them that I will return the entire package to them as soon as possible through the delivery service for which they've provided me their account number.
I don't understand why any signing service, title company or loan officer wants to put such a burden on the low man on the totem pole to jump through hoops when they have clocked out and gone home.

"I don't understand why any signing service, title company or loan officer wants to put such a burden on the low man on the totem pole to jump through hoops when they have clocked out and gone home. " Because they can. The same people who accept not getting paid or waiting three months to get paid will do this.

>"Are you faxing back the entire package."
Well, yes, but an explanation is required here.
In 2008, I purchased a new HP C6180 All-In-One FAX/scanner/copier/printer, just BECAUSE it could accommodate the ENTIRE package for a FAX job.
I did so JUST because I did not want to decline ServiceLink work because of the FAXback issue, NOR did I want to spend additional time separating pages of the package OR baby sitting the FAX job.
I will not spend time beyond the normal checking and notary work to separate the pages listed for FAXbacks, but I WILL FAX the entire package back.
It's done to a toll free number, and the HP C6180 will accept all the pages, fax them all, and never have a problem .... no downfall in that here!
I then follow instructions and WAIT to ship the package until being told that it is OK to do so, which sometimes takes up to 3 days.
I have never had a complaint from ServiceLink, nor had any payment of my fee lowered or declined because of this process, I have always simply been told that my FAXbacks were fine and that I could ship ASAP.
NO problems!! :o]
