Time to do some spring cleaning

Starting with old loan docs still hanging out on my computer...no sense keeping that security problem around.

And my office space.

I'm feeling downright inspired since my Dodgers SWEPT their stadium clean of the worthless SF Giants!

I started with the car. And my yard looks horrible - needs a thatching.

This die hard White Sox fan would be SHOCKED if I

thought that you were trying to dream up lame excuses for
posting Dodger results on Notrot.
Right now , I'm into Hockey for as long as the Hawks stay alive.
Good start last nite. Scored in first 12 seconds of overtime.

Dennis is in sackcloth and ashes, he'll be back in 40 days.

The Cards Bullpen...

...like last year, is going to be their Achilles heel. At least we retain our lead in the Central division. Say, Pat, are you aware of this little factoid about the Cards/Cubs respective stadiums? The Cardinals opened their new Busch stadium a scant 3 seasons ago & have already won a World Series championship (they've won 10 total) . The Cubbies inaugurated Wrigley in 1914 &...need I say more?

Re: The Cards Bullpen...bah

Dennis, if you would only listen to logic, you'd see clearly that the last hundred years is all the unfortunate result of a goat curse. Thankfully, we are now free from that bar to success.

Bottom of the second, no score.

You're Not Including the "Bartman Factor"...

...as the Cubbies new "bar" to success. And who says the original curse has gone away? The proof is in the drought. 4-4 in the top of the 6th.

Re: Your Hawks

I'm no hockey fan, don't think I've ever watched an entire game...on TV even.

But the word on the street is that the teams that survive till the end are gonna drown in the Shark Tank. Since that's only about 40 miles from my front porch I guess I'll have to pay attention.

By the way, Spring Cleaning is a noble tradition, not a lame excuse. I've never... (oh and My Dodgers won again tonight... the Rockies this time... NEXT!!!

Think that we better take this to Leisure before we...

have major abuse rained down upon our heads..

You're talking to the wrong guy, major abuse hmmmm...

It's been some years since I've parted with my hard earned cash to see a live game (when the hot dogs started costing more than the ticket I quit)... but I've put on my Dodger blues and rooted for my team in Candlestick Park SF. It's always an experience to root for the away team.

Rain down abuse?? With a mixture of beer and spit! I'm sure you've seen tougher crowds in Chicago.

I don't think there's anything these little ol' notaries are gonna do to us in cyber space that we need fear.

Just in Case...

...did I mention the State of MO still only allows Notaries to charge a measly $2.00 per sig? Just in case...

Re: Time to do some spring cleaning_SHREDDING!?

I need to do the same. I'm usually pretty good about deleting docs after I've been paid, but I've fallen behind.

That brings me to a question .... Has anyone ever used a one-time shred service? I need to purchase a more heavy-duty shredder, but until then I was thinking about using a service for a big one-time shred (for personal and business). Any suggestions, thoughts?

Re: Time to do some spring cleaning_SHREDDING!?

When dropping off loan docs at my local UPS store I discovered they have shredding service. I just throw what I want shredded in a box, like the docs for a canceled signing, and when it's filled I take it to the UPS store. They charge by weight but it's still less then if I called a shredder service. Not all UPS stores offer that service, so check around. I've also used old docs, instead of newspaper, as a fire starter for the outdoor fireplace we have on our patio.

Re: Time to do some spring cleaning_SHREDDING!?

The BBB here just had a Shredding Day today. Boy, did it feel good to take all my boxes and bags of stuff to shred and get it done zappo-right-on-the-spot for FREE! Just had to drive down to the stadium, and my baby bulldog loved the car ride.

Shredding service ...

I use a secure shredding service, one or two quick trips a year and $25-50/yearly cost, and I get a "Certificate of Destruction" which might not mean a hill of beans, but gives me some warm fuzzies that I've used some due diligence. The docs are "pierced & torn" into tiny pieces (not shredded into strips), and then from there it is recycled. The place I use is a fairly large, established company with impressive security, bonding, E&O, etc.

I did once go to another place, but turned away. In the lobby, there were open boxes of documents waiting to be shredded and when I walked in, there were no employees even IN the lobby! Had anyone a mind to, it would have been quite simple to walk away with stuff. It was quite a cheesy operation.

Re: Shredding service ...

I've hit the jackpot as far as shredding. A man in our town remodeled an old car dealership into a place for autistic children who are too old to attend the public school sytem anymore(over 18). This place is just awesome. They are there daily and learn a variety of skills. They had a plant sale there the other day and I went. In talking with the director, she was explaining what they love to do. She mentioned one of the men loves to shred things. Bingo. I took my box of docs and had a great time sitting with him and watching him have the time of his life. It was a great day for him and me. They wouldn't let me pay for it, but I bought several craft items that they make and bought several vegetable plants from them. I can support their services in other ways. I also sponsored a brick for their patio with our names on it.
Also a couple times a year our Chamber of Commerce brings a truck out for anyone to shred. That is a great service also.

Renee, would you mind sharing the name of the shredding service you use? If you don't want to share on here, please PM me. Thanks!

Re: Time to do some spring cleaning_SHREDDING!?

I bought a Fellowes brand shredder from Costco for $140....it shreds papers into mulch - no strips, or confetti, but mulch.
