UPS packaging?

I've searched the forum and cannot find out what type of legal UPS pkg we should use to return docs. (I see the correct FED EX on the forum) I got the legal express pak. Is this the correct one to use?

That's the one I use, unless instructed otherwise by whoever hired me. You probably will have to order them from UPS.

Carol, UPS has the same legal size envelope as FedEx

I use that unless instructed to do something different.

I only use UPS Legal Express Envelopes. They are a bit smaller than Fedex's, and it can be a a squeeze. I've always been told that shipping charges for PAK's are higher, but I know some who always use them.

As a general rule, letter ans letter size UPS or FeEd are priced the same. If you read the "small" the weight for these is a max of 8 oz. With the carriers discounting this weight limit most likely doesn't apply.
A heads up on UPS envelops, the one will be a light green color (instead of Red or Blue). UPS id in a BIG 'green' push.
According to UPS and FedEx published rates, any other packaging would be shipped at the shipment weight with a min of 1 lb.

I humbly disagree. The print on the back of the UPS Legal Express Envelope clearly states, "For UPS Next Day Air services, there is no weight limit for envelopes containing correspondence, urgent documents, and electronic media. When a UPS Next Day Air service is selected, UPS Express Envelopes containing items other than those listed above are subject to the corresponding rates for the applicable weight." (See http://www.ups.com/content/sg/en/resources/ship/packaging/supplies/envelopes.html for more information.) The print on the back of a FedEx Envelope states, "If the gross weight of the contents, FedEx Envelope, and airbill exceeds eight ounces, the next higher rate will apply." There is no statement as to charges on the back or front of a FedEx Express Padded Pak nor a FedEx Express Sturdy Pak (which have been discontinued, but are still able to be used to ship documents, etc.). FedEx does have a "FedEx Bonus Weight Envelope Program" where there is no weight limit, if the company meets certain criteria. (See http://fedex.com/us/asvm/ca2.pdf for more information.)

Paul,
You are RIGHT. I had not read that statement.
I was told or the envelope did at one time have a weight limit on it. Thanks.

As long as we're educating you...

Never ever put your name or any personal info on an airbill when you have to fill it out.
Always make the Recipient and the Sender the SAME. Reason... you could get billed.

You can't get much more than 8 oz in a UPS legal because it is smaller than the FedEx Legal. As such the fact that UPS allowes you to stuff as much as you want in their legal doesn't really matter. FedEx sturdy packs are priced at a miniminum 1 lb rate.
