Best Marketing techniques

Just thought I would start a thread to help some of us come up with new ideas for marketing our business during these hard times.

I have business cards, postcards, a website, and have signed up with several notary listing sites. I send the postcards to those signing services, title companies, mortgage companies that I have dealt with in the past and had a pretty good response from them.

Anyone else?

I think the postcard idea is good. I would also advise you to be careful about spending money on any listing sites except the major ones. It's good to see that you're on your way, Kim. I noted on your profile that you did take one of Bryce's classes--good move.

My favorite and most successful way to market my business has been by networking....I'm a member of my city's Chamber of Commerce and getting to know the members has resulted in invitations to other networking groups, which have increased my business even more. Getting to know other business owners builds credibility and trust. Attending the breakfast meetings, luncheons, ribbon cutting ceremonies, mixers - constantly being seen - building the business relationships IN PERSON has rewarded me with steady clients...attorneys, mortgage bankers, R.E. brokers, Escrow and Title Officers, etc. Besides that, you meet people from all industries - auto mechanics, insurance agents, financial planners, personal trainers, contractors, electricians. If you are in need of those services, you can do business with someone you've gotten to meet personally and know over time rather than calling a random stranger from the phone book or internet.

People in the Chamber of Commerce and the networking groups that meet typically live locally or one or two cities away, do business locally, you can count on them being licensed, insured and registered which means you can have peace of mind doing business with them - they care about their name and reputation. Plus, you know where to find them - they are not likely to disappear unless they are abducted by aliens. I haven't found a more beneficial way to market than networking. I HIGHLY recommend it.
