Multiple Signers
I am doing a signing today for two of the four signers and I will overnight the package for the other two to sign at another location. On the pages that I am to notarize, ex. DOT, should I do the attachment if the names I am notarizing for are listed 3rd and 4th, or does it matter?

"do the attachment"? If you mean should you NOT use the preprinted Acknowledgement on the DOT and instead attach a California All=Purpose Acknowledgement and write in just the names of the two indivduals who are appearing before you --- YES.
Or, you could cross out the other two names on the preprinted Acknowledgement, but the above procedure is much, much clearer and precise.

If you decide to cross out the other two names as suggested, make sure YOU initial the change. Not them, just you.

Usually the APA's are in the package for the second notary to use for the other parties.

I generally go by where people are located and which cert's match which state requirements. If they are all in CA, then it probably doesn't matter and I would do as David says and just make it easier for the next notary. HOWEVER, if the provided certificate has all the names pre-printed, I would probably go ahead and use it so that I could line out the names that did not appear before me (as appropriate). I've seen waaay too many errors by other notaries to leave that to chance. I will also make sure that it would be very difficult or impossible to add any additional names to it. That way, it's clear who did and who did not personally appear before me - and the next notary will have no choice but to attach their own certificate. If the property is located in another state and the provided ack is in a form that does not match CA requirements (and there are no names pre-printed), then I would probably leave it and use my own.
