NATIONS SIGNATURE CLOSERS RIPPED ME OFF
NSC CALLED AT 9PM FOR A CLOSING THAT HAD TO BE COMPLETED THAT NIGHT. AGREED TO $400 IN ADVANCE. REC'D WORK ORDER FOR THAT AMOUNT. DID THE CLOSING AT 11PM. THEN THEY CALLED TWO DAYS LATER, SD NEEDED 3 PAGES RESIGNED WITH WIFE. AGREED TO $80 FOLLOW UP CHARGE. DID THE JOB. 3 DAYS LATER THEY CALLED AGAIN AND WANTED MORE RESIGNED. AGREED TO ANOTHER $125 (FOR A TOTAL OF $605). I DID THE JOB. NOW, 32 DAYS LATER, I RECEIVED $525. I TALKED TO KAREN KREHEL IN A/P, SHE SD THAT IS ALL THEY ARE GOING TO PAY. I CALLED GREG RODDEN, OPS MANAGER FOR COUNTRYWIDE ACCOUNT, HE SAID THAT THEIR POLICY IS TO NOT PAY OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT. HE SAID FOR ME TO DO WHAT I HAVE TO DO!!!!! WOW. THE GUY THAT OWNS THIS COMPANY OWNS A PRO BALL TEAM AND AN ART GALLERY. RODDEN EVEN SAID IT WAS FINE IF I WANTED TO CALL THE OWNER DIRECTLY. I HAVE WORKED FOR THESE GUYS OFF AND ON FOR YEARS. THEY ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO GET ME TO WORK FOR CHEAP AND IN TERRIBLE AREAS. THIS GUY RODDEN TOLD ME THAT I AM THE MOST EXPENSIVE NOTARY THAT HE HAS EVER COME ACROSS. I TOLD HIM THAT MAY BE THE CASE, BUT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PAY ME, THEN DON'T GIVE ME THE JOB. YEAH, ITS ONLY $80, BUT ITS THE POINT. DON'T GET RIPPED BY THESE GUYS.

Re: $400 for a signing and your whining??
I'm with you. I have never seen a fee like that, nor do I ever expect to. Total of $605 for one signing--wow, wow, wow!

Why are you shouting???
Please turn off the caps lock - it makes it hard to read your message....
I don't know the circumstances of the signing you're talking about - how big a package it was, distance, faxbacks, etc - but $400 seems to be a tad on the high side for a loan signing. And the $205 extra for resigns is more than what most folks are able to command for a a full signing....
More power to you if you can command these prices, but I don't think you'll find much sympathy here. I don't know of any SS that would agree to those rates; that rumbling sound you hear is a bunch of NSAs who are scrambling to sin up with them...
Unless there was something really bizarre about this assignment, it sounds like you were more than adequately compensated - and you may have killed a golden goose for yourself by publicly taking them to task for it.

NSC agreed then paid you 500+ write the rest off
and laugh all the way to the bank. Find it hard that NSC would pay that much first off.

They didn't rip you off. Your fees were too high for them
and perhaps as someone has already said, you may have shot yourself in the foot to get more business from them.
If I could command more money for a signing for $400, I'd do anything they asked me too with no extra charge. That's more money than some people get for working a forty hour week.

Irrespective of how high the fees are, if NSC agreed to pay Richard and he received the confirmations for all three jobs listing the three different fees, then I agree they should pay as agreed. If NSC didn't want to pay those fees, they should not have agreed to them in the first place.
I'm with the rest of the posters that these fees seem very high, but I've been called by NSC at EOM, extremely late in the evening, for a closing that takes an hour to drive to, and it would have taken a hefty fee for me to even entertain the thought of going out and doing it. The last time they called me, I declined outright (they called twice - desperate) because I was AFRAID they would agree to some outrageous multi-hundred fee that I quoted. If they agreed to Richard's fees, they should pay up.

Well...for whatever reason NSC appears to have agreed to pay those amounts.
(I am assuming Mr. Whitney's story is accurate).
They complain that he is the most expensive notary they have come across, yet they hire him at his price and then do not pay the price they agreed on.
I don't agree with that. If they agreed to too much then they should honor that agreement.
And there you have it...My not so humble opinion.

Agree with Brenda
completely. Don't really care about any other circumstances other than 'they agreed to his fee' and then didn't pay it. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I take it with a grain of salt.. who knows if its true
NSC will pay you, I would bet almost everyone has been paid if the loan cleared. Plus they also put the no sign or canceled policy on the confirms.

But if it is true, should they pay him as agreed? n/m

Depends..
Notary can take the fee and maybe pray NSC calls back with more work in the future.. Or fight for 80 bucks (this will take alot of time and actions on the notaries part) and never hear from them again.
If it was me, like I said I would take the 500+ laugh all the way to the bank and write off the rest. They gave him a reason for the lack of 80 and the ball is in his court.
500 for 3 trips.. 175 per trip fair fee to me.
But I .m not sure if this true and we have the facts.

Local SS owed me 55 for no sign..
They said they don't pay for no signs (not listed on confirm) Never had issues in the past with them, after 2 months of no payment I was ready to file theft of service charges. Check in the mail days later and never heard from them again so far. (did business with them for years)
As an business owner you need to know when to push, I lost out on 1200-1500 dollars a year worth of business over 55 bucks. I felt with the hoops you need to jump through and the crap about no signs did it for me. Plus comments from the staff member left a bad taste in my mouth about the no sign job.
Its all up to you..short money vs long term money

Richard, are you a Notary? Your website is a commercial collection agency? Mentions nothing in regards to Notary work. What is your agenda here?

Richard negotiated a fee and should be paid that fee. period. If I get a call for a 4pm closing, eight miles away, I give them one price....when they push that closing to 6 or 7pm I let them know at 2pm(when I don't have the docs) it is going to cost them....for me to drive eight miles non rush is about one quarter of the time to drive during rush hour. Most tc's knows this and will meet my fee, ss don't give a ......that's why I rarely work for ss. Ps, I hear we have the third worst traffic in the country, right behind LA and Dallas I think.

I agree with all of the above responders that, if NSC agreed to pay, they should pay. I also agree with those who cautioned about killing the golden goose. I'd like to know the details of the re-signs and why they were necessary.

The truth to the story is A: he took advantage of a situation by charging us so much when we really needed the help... NSC has no problem paying a notary for their time, but when I feel takin advantage of you can bet you will never be called again... B: the reason Richard Whitney had two more trips out to closing was because of faults of his! HE didn't correctly execute the documents causing some resigns... He should not have been paid at all... But I am trying to keep this company above the rest... FYI to everyone, I read everything on here. If you have a problem with payment from NSC or what we pay you you think is "not fair" then call us you can negotiate fees whenever you like... So quit hiding and complaing on here... We do not know it's broken till you tell us... I know we are a fair company and we pay more than any others around, if you feel this is false you are not doing your part in communicating with us... I have over 10,000 agents, I can not keep track of idividuals, as much as I try I just can not...
