Tax form 4506

Have you gotten instructions to NOT have the spouse sign as well? I thought this was done in the event of joint filing. The TC tells me they get instructions from lenders to have each just sign their own.

Re: Tax form 4506. Under the sig section, form says

the if a joint return, EITHER husband OR wife may sign.
If one for each, I just have them sign their own.
If a NBS , and only one name on form, I only have that one sign.

I have been called a lot worse things than "Chico"

Chico Carrasquel was the great White Sox shortstop
when I first became a Sox fan.
First Latin American to play in the All Star Game.
Died a few years back.

I believe that the instructions to the form say the spouse does not need to sign. Most packages have a form for each now

I think the spouse line is if they only provide one form and the taxpayers file a joint return. Most of the lenders provide 1 for each borrower and only need 1 signature on each.

I have never had a problem with both signing both. But this time there was explicit instructions to have each sign their own and not sign as spouse.

Our's not to question why. Just have them sign and

waive bye bye

Exactly! Names on Line 1 & 2 sign. I don't decide otherwise. n/m

Like any other doc, I have them sign as the company has printed the names on it.
There is one company that wants the spouse to sign as "spouse". Otherwise, most include separate forms for each.
