UFF & MMA (long)

Received a call yesterday from a "fellow notary" inviting my involvement in MMA. Said he got my name from signing service listing. It was actually my network's website. Asked him (Joel Burdman) to just email me the information. Here's his email:
=========================================================
It was nice having the opportunity of speaking with you, a
fellow Notary, earlier today.

As I may have mentioned I'm semi-retired now . My professional background
has included being a R.E. Broker since 1971, R.E. Developer of condos and
houses in the 1980s, Owner of S & B Escrow and the Trust Deed Bureau,
a Foreclosure Trustee Service both in Encino , a Founder of Charter National
Bank (also in Encino) and serving as a Notary since 2001 .

My work now is to help people become financially free. The easiest way
is to pay off their mortgages in the shortest time possible. The program I
want to introduce is the key for folks like yourself and your clients to do
just that. The program is from United First Financial (UFF). They
are located in Utah.

The Founders of UFF recently received the prestigious Entrepreneur of the
Year Award in Financial Services from Ernst & Young, one of the "Big 4 "
largest accountancy and professional services firms in the U.S. Other
recipients include the founders of Microsoft, Apple, eBay and Starbucks
so the credibility is definitely there.

KEY POINTS TO THE HOMEOWNER ARE:

No need to refinance
Monthly payment stays the same.
Little to no change in their budget.

Yolanda, carefully check it out www.presentingmma.com to learn how it works.

As each segment on the video ends, click on the next one on the right side. To view it in full
screen click on the square at the bottom right. Hit "Escape" to return to the smaller screen.
We just started using it with people who want to pay off their mortgages off in one-half the
time or less. It also works the same for all other debts somebody may have.

So if you own a house and want to see how many years it would take to pay off your own
mortgage or if you just want to refer some recent clients you notarized, I will have my coach
speak with and make a Webinar presentation to you or them or BOTH. This way you and they will see
exactly what can happen using your or their own numbers . If they become a Client,
it would be my pleasure to send you a $200 consulting fee for each one.

Yolanda , it was really nice getting to know you a little. As Notary Publics we share a
common goal for honesty and professionalism. That is what the UFF Money Merge
Account is all about. It took me a long, long time to find this company and their
fabulous program. By the way it works for property in Canada too.

I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best,

Joel

MHO - This manner of seeking participants (borrowers) seems totally unethical to me.

Think it's a conflict for you to take borrowers' info and give it out to others for a fee ... unethical? Possibly illegal...not sure....the whole concept brings a frown to my face which tells me "stay away".

MHO

a violation of your borrowers' and/or notary clients' privacy.

I received a call from this man as well. He represents a company that is claiming to show homeowners how to pay off their mortgage in half the time. They are no different then loan modification companies, in the fact that they charge a $3000+ upfront fee. This is just another gimmick to take money away from homeowners.

There are notaries out there that use the borrowers as a captive audience to promote their other ventures. In my honest opinion this is both unethical, and unprofessional.

I have been approached by notaries regarding this type

of situation, as well. Notaries I consider well-respected on this board.

I am glad others are not in favor of this type of business while doing loan signings.

Of course they're going to pitch to NSA's. They're counting on the leads that might come from the contact we have with the borrowers. It is a big NO-NO to present any products or services at the signing. This kind of thing has been pitched before. I've seen a lot of so-called mortgage acceleration programs pitch their products to NSA's. Just say NO.

Most lenders will set this up for a borrower on request. Some lenders charge $300+/- to do this, othr lenders don't charge at all. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage I know doesn't charge, it's an option at the time the loan is signed.

It costs absolutely nothing to use Bankrate.com's mortgage calculator to figure out how to pay your mortgage off faster.

Emailed him a resounding no citing it's unethical and

probably illegal.

He wrote back a long dissertation explaining how it's not either. He just doesn't get it!!

Didn't bother responding. Just can't be bothered with tunnel vision.

Short answer - straight from the GLBAct ...

I quote (again - did this the last time it came up):

"Receiving Nonpublic Personal Information

The GLB Act puts some limits on how anyone that receives nonpublic personal information from a financial institution can use or re-disclose the information. Take the case of a lender that discloses customer information to a service provider responsible for mailing account statements, where the consumer has no right to opt out: The service provider may use the information for limited purposes - that is, for mailing account statements. It may not sell the information to other organizations or use it for marketing."
