You are going to love this
I did a signing a couple of months ago...the lender forgot to attach the Trust Rider to the DOT....county just contacted escrow to tell them that the rider is needed and that the DOT needs to be re-signed and notarized....Escrow officer asked if I could just send a couple of blank acks with the new date so the county will record!!!
WOW!!!!!!! Maybe I should just do this...it is totally worth losing my notary commission!!!!....not!

Sure, why not send them blank acks ...
nothing said about your signature and notary seal on them, was there? ;>

The scary thing is....
that there are notaries out there that would do exactly that, and never give it another thought.
You've GOT to think that this does indeed get "fixed" that way often. If everyone did as you did, and the others on this board would have done, they wouldn't be asking that question anymore. I have no doubt in my mind that it happens. I'd also guess that most of the time it floats right on through, even though it shouldn't.
Just another example why NSA's are going to become more and more regulated as time goes by. Like it or not, we are the keepers of the key when it comes to signing off on the docs. How we use that key is up to each of us. Unfortunately, there are those that will turn the key upon request without even thinking, or maybe just thinking if they don't do it they're going to lose a client. If you, or I, lose one over something like that, so be it. Unscrupulous will get you in trouble, if you let them. It's YOUR stamp, not theirs. All they care about is fixing the problem the easy way...let the notary take the fall.

So true, JJ. Instead of respecting our position, they will often treat us like we are PIA's because we have to follow the notary laws of our state.

Now, just what would they have done, had you gone to the great beyond, and not available in physical form to perform this request, what the heck would they have done then?
