I am curious...why do some companies loan docs print out nice and fast and others take forever to print????

Funny you mention this tonight. It took forever to print tonight. Luckily I have 2 computers hooked up to 2 printers. Printed both at the same time. I would still be printing if I had done this. Doesn't happen often, but frustrating when it does.

It doesn't always happen but usually the one time you need to HURRY is when it will. Sometimes it may take an hour just to print papers. So frustrating!

In some cases of scanned pdf files the scanner used by the TC, SS, etc. has a higher dpi resolution setting. The higher the resolution the longer it takes your printer to read and print.

You can buy a memory card. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to install. Check your manual. Also using a USB printer cable vs a parallel cable will speed things up as well.

Doesn't it also depend on how it's scanned?

If it's scanned as an image it will take longer than as a .... something or other...

I agree with Linda. I had a 98 pg document to print and had problems with printing from pgs 75-98 as the orientation of the document changed from portrait to landscape--apparently the TC merged two documents into one. The quick fix was to print pgs 1-74, then 75-98.

Re: Doesn't it also depend on how it's scanned?

I had a similar problem on a PDF attachment I received Friday for a Sat appointment. Only page 5 of the attachment would not print correctly. All of the other 55 pages printed without incident. Page 5 was line after line of gray shading in several different tones.

I called the SS; "call the title company" which I did. The title company; "I can see page 5 just fine." To which I answered, "I can, too, but I can't print it, and I have tried every trick I know." "Just take what you have." was his answer. What??????

I asked him if he could at least print page 5 and fax it to me. Sure. I gave him my fax #, went to my next closings, never got it. I don't think he could print it either. It was page 1 of the 1003, so I emailed the SS and CC'd the Tile Co. that I would take what I had as instructed because I did not received page 5 which was the 1st page of the 1003.

That SS called me back pretty quick, "We cannot instruct you to go to the closing without all of the documents." Well what do you want me to do not go at all. The Title Co had said take what you have.

Sat I told my husband about the problem and asked if he could help. He tried all the tricks I had tried. No luck. Then he transferred the file to Adobe Photoshop on his MAC (he's a graphic artist) and what do you know I had page 5.

I was so frustrated with the TC because he acted like I was goofy.

Again hubby saves he day!!! =)

In PDF format try clicking on ADVANCED printing options then check the print as image box. Always works for me when I run into slow printing PDF files.

Re: You mean vs. "as text"? That's what I thought, too.

DO NOT, repeat DO NOT, do this if you are using Adobe Reader 9.1. The reason is that the Reader will interpret the file correctly for the different image formats and print accordingly. If you select "Print as image", you force the Reader to first render the page as a bit mapped image, then print, which actually may take it longer to print.

Prior to version 9, I would agree that turning on "Print as image" may speed up some files.

I don't know the answer but I've had slower printing docs quite often lately. I've had some with several attachments to the same e-mail. One attachment will spit out like it should and the other will print a page and think about a page then print a page and think about a page, etc. VERY frustrating. I know it's not the size because the last time it did that the loan docs printed fast and the much smaller titile docs were the slow ones.

The reason for the long print times is that the doc was scanned in a very high resolution. There is no need for docs to be scanned in at a resolution greater than 100 DPI. When I run into that I do give the SS or TC a call and asked for a redo on the files. Sometimes they accomodate other times I have to bite the bullet.
