short check

my trip was to Avenal 30 miles away(suppose to be) the wife did not show up so we had to then go to Coalinga another 25 miles away; everyone was late.....I missed another appt. because of this signing; by the time I got through it was 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!! and late at night....Lucky for me my husband was with me or I would of been totally lost out in the middle of nowhere; I emailed everyone after the signing was complete; at about midnight...the next day I get a rude call saying I did NOT call the lender......so sorry.................they cut my check 65$............So I learned a valuable lesson; if you are dealing with a new signing co. and you are going to a place you are aware is not the safest place; Its not worth it to take the job....the signing co. is KCsigning out of Florida.....like I emailed them; they should be ashamed on themselves........................................

"they cut my check 65$............So I learned a valuable lesson;"

Did you complete the job? If so, bill them and pursue....you're entitled to be paid...if your account is true then sounds to me like even if you DID call the lender there'd be another excuse to cut your fee.

Why did you let this assignment completely control your entire night and jeopardize another assignment. Yes I'd have done my best to get it done, but with another appointment scheduled they'd have had to work things out a bit more efficiently....you're not supposed to follow everyone around like a little puppy just because they're disorganized. I'd have left them, gone to my scheduled appointment and maybe met them afterwards when they're ALL in one place....or give it back to the service..

Meanwhile...do not let this go...if you completed the job...pursue your money....your lesson learned should be that no one walks on you.

MHO and Good Luck.

yep; linda I learned my lesson....big time and I probably will not let it go ; I will send another invoice; I had no choice but to complete the signing as I was out in the middle of nowhere and 45 miles away from home........Thats why I am feeling so taken advantage of....I already told them they should be ashamed of themselves and to take me off their list......... They are saying my instructions said to call the lender.....OK; sorry I emailed everyone at midnight when I got hom......lesson learned......think I will email them again.....

Sorry you had this unfortunate experience. I've worked with them for several years & they are a great co. I know they are very picky & won't tolerate not following instructions to the letter.
You said you emailed them. They have a login for the completion report (the posting won't allow me to name the site it's through--aka coffee). It really sounds like you had the "closing from h@#l" & we all get one of those from time to time. Have you tried to call Kris & talk this over with him?

No I just emailed them and they could not find my invoice where they modified it for the extra time and milage; but I have a copy of it and will fax it tomorrow.....Why can't they find my invoice???????? I sent the docs out before the lender would even get the phone message........and again I emailed and cc everyone......... I forgot to send a pint of blood though........

Yep, this was one of those companies I omitted from my marketing campaign, and they should be ashamed of themselves....Stay on em until they pay you the full amount...just because they are in the lowest corner of the eastern seaboard, doesn't mean your collections efforts can't be effective.

I would not have gone to Coalinga, if the location was to be in Avenal. Anytime documents signers are a "no-show", call the hiring party and inform them that the signers are a no-show and you are moving on to your next appt. Then leave the decision to them as to whether they will take the job back and re-assign it to another notary or whether they will reschedule for later that same evening (if you are available) or for the next day. Be in control of your own schedule and do not subject yourself to the whims, irresponsibilities and incompetence of the signers. You are not responsible for the borrowers issues/problems. They need to have their rear-ends in gear and at the appt ON TIME, ready to sign. If not, move on.....

I had a borrower today ask if I would drive to his office first, then go to his home to get his wife's signatures. I said, you need to be together on this. I'm not running around like this unless it is prearranged and the signing fee is appropriate to the scope of work.

Good for YOU.....I was just trying to do a good job for KC signing; I have 23 years escrow experience so that entails pleasing the customer and the customer is always right....But not in this case.....Yes I allowed myself to be used and it really does hurt my feelings that the signing co. took advantage of me........BUT I have learned a good lesson the hard way.............also thank you for the advise on who to call...I will call them in the morning......my best to you all.........My local lenders and title companies are good to me....I am blessed.......Need to work in a BIG way so I turn down nothing but as of today that has changed for me.........

There was a time when I would have done this, but not any more. With fees being whittled to the bone, I'm not putting myself out there any more to be slapped around. I don't know why it took me so long to be discriminating, but I certainly am today, more discerning about what I will and will not do for a set fee.

we certainly need to stand together and not accept the low fees; especially with gas prices at 3 :29 a gallon.................I know for a fact I will not anymore.......Again I need to work; but not be taken advantage of.....I have 3 outside signing companies that still have not paid me for JUne.........they are all 3 looking into it.....that was 2 days ago..............OK enough complaining from me tonight........

Yeah the extra fee I did not get because I did not call the lender at midnight; just emailed everyone...................................... and then it was a weekend and the lender had the docs on MONDAY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

$65 penalty? That's way too much for one failed phone call. n/m
