Air Card alternative?
With air cards running about $60/month, I've heard of a possible alternative.
Apparently, you purchase the air card unit itself, but then you can get prepaid cards (at places like Best Buy) for $25 that allow you to process a determined amount of data through it.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm wondering how many average electronic signings you could get off the prepaid card?

Depending on your wireless carrier, you may be able to tether for a wireless connection.
I use the internet mobile a LOT, though not usually for e-closings. (I've done some this way though)
I tether my laptop to my blackberry and get a super-fast 3G connection over Verizon. There's an additional charge per month ($12 or $15, I can't recall) and it's super-reliable.
This has been a lifesaver in a few different instances when mobile web just wasn't doing what I needed or while traveling. (no figuring out local dial-up numbers, etc).

Tethering with Verizon is not necessary with Blackberry
just purchase tetherberry. One time $50.00 charge, tether for free from then on. Free week trial available and the software works great.

Works great Marilyn, fast enough to watch streaming video,
easy to use. Plug phone up to laptop, click icon on PC and hit icon on blackberry and off you go. I love it and saving me $30 a month.

Re: Works great Marilyn, fast enough to watch streaming video,
Just to clarify. This means that you can do e-signings using a Blackberry (tethering) and have no air card or air card fees at all? Does Blackberry limit usage like an air card does or is the Blackberry unlimited for its monthly fees - which happen to be ?????
Just trying to do the savings math since I don't have either yet and would prefer going the least expensive way to start if possible.

Virginia, if u have a Blackberry you are usually paying for
internet on the phone already (would not make sense to have PDA w/o internet). If you add tethering through Verizon it is $30 per month, if you purchase Tetherberry it costs $50 one time only. Tetherberry uses the phones internet to connect your laptop, using the Blackberry tethering with Verizon does the same thing, they just charge monthly to do it.
It makes sense...why pay more for what your phone is already doing for you. Verizon is charging $30 a month for nothing more than software and a cable...very unfair.

Janet, most people loose the internet when u answer
a call, some do not, but I and most do. Done with call, plug back up and you are surfing again.

Thanks, Jim!
Kinda what I thought. I would think that could be a problem with an e-signing, unless one is willing to lose the potential business.
