Christmas Eve Closing Fee??

I am wondering if you all would charge more for a closing on Christmas Eve day? What do you think would be a fair price to quote a SS for a refi 1st w/ Edocs about 10 - 15 mins away on this day? I know technically it's an ordinary day but would anyone charge more?

I wouldn't take it. It's a big day for us.

That's our main family gathering day, although we do Christmas too, but the relatives scatter into the wind on Christmas Day, so I personally wouldn't do one on that day for any figure.

IF I were to do one on that day, I'd think you'd have to look at what your competition is where you are. Can they get someone else on Christmas Eve to do that closing? If not, it's worth more, and I'd charge it. Wouldn't go crazy, but a little bump in the fee would certainly be in line, IMO, and I'm totally out of line with the rest of the posters that have responded, but that's what I'd do. Charge what the market will bear, especially on Christmas Eve. JMO

I have to work my day job, so throwing in a closing wouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't do any closings either if I had to be at a family gathering. Have a great time with the family and don't eat to much.

In my younger days...hehe....

I would take an assignment in a heart beat and not bat an eye...but now that I am a little wiser.. it is a different story.

Do what works best for you.

I haven't worked in (7 years) on Christmas eve or Christmas day,

but I have worked all the other holidays: New years, New Years Eve, Thanksgiving, July 4, Memorial day/ etc.

I have always charged my regular fee.

Christmas Eve...

I'd do regular fee during the day, but anything after 6pm would be considered holiday time, and a progressively higher rate would apply for each hour later than that. Same for New Year's Eve.

I actually did one at 9pm Christmas Eve several years ago, with a lovely, soft snow falling all around.

The ridiculous (and desperate) fee offered was all that kept me out of divorce court that night, and subsidized a considerable part of the kids' merriment.

Have a great holiday, everyone!

It depends on what it is worth to you for that day and what the market would bear.

Yeah, I've decided against it. I have way too much going on that day. All it will do is be a big ole' pain in the you know what. I would rather concentrate my efforts on getting all the cooking and wrapping done for the evenings activities. I just hate telling people "no". Thanks all and have a Merry Christmas!

If you hate telling people no, why not tell yourself YES!

It is ok to be selfish, and if you are doing something for yourself, I suppose you could call it selfish. Christmas, though, is a once a year celebration that we want to share with our families. What a selfish thing - but the payback and dividends are priceless, to quote another.

My Christmas 2009 memory? strangers borrowing money or John's wacky gift that had us all in stitches (and on and on.)
