E-Signing

Will someone please explain what an e-signing is and what equipment you'll need to do one.

I feel like such a dummy, but I can't seem to find any info on it.

Thanks ya'll.

Cheryl

Cheryl,

You would have to print some docs and sign the others online. This can be done from the borrowers PC if they have one or it can be done via laptop and wireless card/wi-fi signal or tethering of PDA.

If you look at the AmTrust website you will probably find the best info.... not that Pauls info. is not great (knowing him I am sure it is) but Amtrust is probably the largest provider of e-sign closings.

Good luck, let me know if you need more info., you can call and I will explain if you would like.

Thanks so much. I asked questions before I saw your email which answered them all.

Great Site--E-Signing

WOW! WHAT A GREAT SITE you have. Thank you. So pretty much anyone can do these? Do you need a laptop and printer? How about being registered with MERS or any other type of security measure...the key cryptology thing??

Re: Great Site--E-Signing

Anyone can do them? Must be a Notary and have internet connection. No security measures other than an affiliate setting you up to do the closing. Do not confuse e-sign with e-notarization.

Re: Great Site--E-Signing

If you can do edocs and follow instructions, you can do this. Even though some have said they have used the BO's computer, it's best to use your own equipment meaning a laptop. I have not invested in an air card, as even though there are 400,000 + people in my general area, it's still like working in a rural area meaning cell service is "rural-ish". In the few esignings I have done, the BO had internet serivce and if they did not have wi-fi, I plugged into their router / modem, so make sure you have cat-5 cable with you. 50 feet is nice just in case their router is a distance from the kitchen table, my preferred place of business.

Also, it's more work than regular edocs in spite of what the lender or TC tells you, so price accordingly, perhaps $25-$35 more than your fee for an edoc signing.

Re: PS

Ask to make sure their internet is high speed, like DSL or cable. It's doable on dialup, but you risk a dropped connection and it takes a long time.
