Good free newsletter on marketing
David is a good and smart man and one of the best marketers for entrepreneurs in the US.
You can subscribe for free here (I don't get anything for posting this.) http://www.marketingjewelry.com/jewelry-selling-insights.htm
He specifically writes for people selling inexpensive jewelry (Swarovski, not diamonds - for example).
But lots of his tips can be easily translated to notary work.
Today's eNewsletter was especially good.
Last month he surveyed over 1K artisan jewelry makers/sellers.
Here's the results for "how do you market yourself and your jewelry?" And I have added a few notes about what the notary might think about inside the [] marks.
Top 5 methods used to market self and jewelry according to survey results:
1. Wearing my jewelry [notary public sign on car and/or classy "Name, Notary Public" pin to wear at networking events]
2. Encourage friends/relatives to tell others about my jewelry [yep!]
3. My own website [absolutely necessary]
4. Facebook [I don't think this would be good for notary work unless you got into some special circle, like a group of local oncology, general surgery, and cataract surgery nurses. Could be lots of POA work there. I'd love to hear if someone has found a way to make notary income off Facebook or Twitter. I know tons of people chat but are any notaries actually making money?]
5. My own page on someone else's site (e.g. Etsy.com) [having a great profile here on NotRot]
btw - I subscribe to only a couple of marketing newsletters. Most are junk. This guy is gold.
