Saw your earlier post that you had just moved (I think). Anyway, you are aware that TX doesn't allow notaries to do HELOCs except in a TC/Att'y office, right? Perhaps a TX notary will give you more info than I did.

I did know that but thanks! I have a few friends in the title world so they have been helpful. Just trying to get in the swing of things again. I recently moved from FL and TX is a whole different world!

It's funny - some companies that were good last year aren't good anymore. Other companies with reputations are paying less. Personally, the calls I've had want me to travel an hour or more.
Gasoline is my largest enemy. The price locally is $1 higher than this time last year - oh but we're in recovery now !! Not hardly.
If you had your guard up before you moved, put it up higher.
Good luck in your new 'notary' home.

You want people to post the names of their best companies
on this board? Well since you're not my local competition I have nothing to worry about, right? I'm sure there's nobody in the Los Angeles area who will see my post and call these companies to try to undercut me and steal my business.

I have to agree with Calinotary! I think your best bet is to study Signing Central and, if you haven't been on this board in a while, take the time to go back through as many old posts as you can. It will be harder to come up with a list of good companies than bad ones, but like Cali said, no one with any sense is just going to give up their client list (the most valuable asset we have in our businesses), especially in the current market.
Also, it's always a good idea to check here first before accepting a job from an unknown entity, if at all possible. Lots has changed. Do you have a client list from when you were working in FL? You might want to start by doing a search on those companies.
BTW, when I check out a new company, I check three things: the ratings on SC, the comments section and then I search the company name. Each provides slightly different info sometimes.
Best of luck!

I'd start with my old clients
if they are nationwide services. They already know you, would only have to change the info in their data base.

Agree...most of mine don't come out of Texas.
If you were successful before, just let them know you're in a new venue. You already have the contacts, and you know which ones paid you before, and didn't. Some of them are bankrupt now, or don't pay, so you just gotta update your old contacts and make some new ones. I sent you a couple.
BEST OF LUCK, AND WELCOME TO TEXAS, THE LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE BRAVE!

**BEST OF LUCK, AND WELCOME TO TEXAS, THE LAND OF THE FREE AND HOME OF THE BRAVE! **
Or, as some may perceive regular posters, BrendaTx and John Schenk, of Texas:
Welcome to Texas, the Land of the Bullsh** Artist and people who ramble on so much that people seldom reach the end of their posts. They mean well, anyhow.

Signing Central is still your best friend. (That and the Search function). Follow the stars and note how many are listed as out of business.

You guys are the best! Thanks for all the advise and encouragement. I appreciate not wanting to give up your contacts! I am happy to be back in the land on signings! I migrated to loan processing and orginating and it is a crazy world! This was the best for myself and my family. Just hoping to get my business back up and running soon!! Thanks again!!
