Loan signings on Sunday
I was scheduled to do a loan signing on Sat and due to the weather we moved it to Sun. The loan officer approved this change. An atty involved in the deal said "we are not allowed to sign docs using Sunday's date" Not because we moved, it but she ademently said, docs are NEVER allowed to be signed on Sunday's. I have had appts scheduled for Sunday's, has anyone else perform signings on sunday???? Has anyone ever heard of this as an issue??? Thanks,

Loan signings on Sunday
I had a signing at 8:00am on a Sunday once. About 45 miles from my house too.
My 2 cents worth (and it may be worth less than that): a Notary can witness a signature any day of the week, at any time of day. Was the attorney referring to the RTC not counting Sundays? Still can be signed on that day, just start counting the next day that's all.
If I were in the mood (and was going to lose the signing anyway) I'd demand that the lawyer tell me the section of law or code that says "docs are NEVER allowed to be signed on Sunday's.". She is just blowing smoke and/or overfilled with her own false sense of importance.

Thank you for the responses. I just wanted to confirm that there was nothing I had missed since I have done signing on Sundays. I intend to challenge the atty as I have a feeling I will not be paid. They want me to go back out tonight and have it resigned and I am already booked and if I wasn't there really isn't any point to resigning when the first one is correct and ready to be fed-exed back. If they do not respond before my 5 pm pick up, I am sending it anyone and letting them bear the cost of the documents whether they want them or not.

Pennsylvania has some long lasting, still on the books, blue laws. I remember when a business could not collect sales taxes on Sunday, so the business could not even open since it was required they collect taxes. There also were blue laws about entering into contracts for real property were not allowed on Sundays. I don't know if any of those blue laws are still on the books that would effect the transaction or not, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me in the least. Especially in Pennsylvania.

I've done signings on a Sunday. Maybe they are confused because Sunday doesn't count as a day for recission.

Was this a purchase, or N/O/O refi?
Lenders typically won't allow a purchase transaction to be dated on any day the bank is closed, because they wouldn't be able to disburse 'good' funds (checks wouldn't be cashable THAT day). While there's nothing against closing a purchase in escrow, with a different disbursement date (and usually a disclosure that it IS closing in escrow) - many Lenders won't accept that situation, either. Same would apply to a N/O/O refi.
If it was an O/O refi ...then I go with what Bob said!
