Not uncommon
Am I missing anything here?
If I had a friend who was a real estate agent and I trusted them, I would have no problem letting their spouse be my LO. Of course, I would shop every venue possible to make sure and keep 'em honest.
RE agents generally do have a favored broker they refer to clients. It's up to the clients to do their homework and figure out if they are getting a good deal out of that referral.

You're not missing anything. It was just the first time for me. Brokers and realtors can absolutely throw work each others way, I just found it funny that they were married to each other!

Re: Not uncommon, You got that right Brenda, I buy a bit

Re: Disclosures at Signing....
They love to keep it in the family in RE. Unfortunately, as notaries, we can't do that (conflict of interest).

Re: Disclosures at Signing....conflict of interest?
Talk about keeping it in the family? How about a certain group of notaries, who just happen to work for a TC, stretched their creativity by taking loan documents home. Then doing the signing themselves after work , billing for the entire signing fee? I guess that really would be keeping it in the “extended family”.
