New Year's Day signing
Would you do a signing on NYD for your standard fee or a higher fee? To answer my own question, I ask for more since it is a holiday but I'm wondering if there are others who feel differently and, if I may ask, why or why not? Thanks!!

We don't normally do much on New Year's Eve or
New Year's Day - for that reason I'd probably just charge my normal fee..
One quick word of advice - careful about shipping back - make sure they'll ship out on Saturday for you..

Re: We don't normally do much on New Year's Eve or
I have done signings Christmas Eve, but never been asked about New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Yes, I would, but ask for an increased fee, naturally.

I did a signing on Christmas Eve and general notary work on Christmas Day. I charge the same fees 365 days a year and nothing extra for holidays. The only time I charge extra is for distances exceeding my normal travel area or odd hours (11pm - 6am).

Not so for other professions...
Too bad my HVAC techs don't do the same!! Air conditioning went out on the 4th of July this year, and I paid big time for that!!

Yeah...I've thought of that..
My a/c NEVER goes out during normal business hours....always on a Sunday - premium prices..

I would charge a higher fee
if I chose to work on NYD. Seems reasonable. We are professionals and are entitled to take off Sundays and holidays. If our services are required then a premium fee is in order.

I have worked on Sundays & Holidays--no extra charge. IMO it would be nice if the borrower(s) offered a tip, but they don't generally know how or what we're paid.

I have worked New Year's eve at least 5 out of the 7 years I have been a notary and I didn't charge anymore than usual. The only 2 days I haven't worked are Thanksgiving day and Christmas day.
