Prospect Mortgage Notary ID requirements...
I have done a few loans for this mortgage company and they require copy of DL, copy of notary commission and voter registration/property tax bill with name on. There is a page that the settlement agent needs to fill out with our information. Some one here says to block the DL number, but how he/she will be able to fill out that particular page? Any comments?
Thanks!

" copy of DL, copy of notary commission and voter registration/property tax bill with name on"
Copy of DL (with vital info blacked out), copy of notary commission (OK)....copy of voter registration/property tax bill with name on? Lil over the top, don'tcha think? IMO they don't need copy of my property tax bill...no more than some of them need a copy of my car insurance....and they don't get it.
Are you sure this is YOUR info they're asking for? I do know some of the ID Verification Forms that require two forms of ID and the secondary form can be voter registration card, property tax bill or utility bills with borrower name on it etc etc..

Why in the world would they need voter registration/property tax bill, unless of course they plan on soliciting you for a loan in the near future? That's ridiculous, I wouldn't give them anything but a copy of my commission.Let them fill in their own blanks.

I agree. I know I've said this before, but we're the one's extending THEM credit. We need their info as much as they need ours.

You are right MW. Easy scam to set up.
Most states have websites to verify a notary's commission. Whenever I register with a new company I always state that I will forward my personal info DL/W9 after I have received an assignment from them.
Think about how easily notaries could be scammed. Thousands of contacts on NR alone free to anyone who registers. Bulk email "Hey, we're a new company and will be paying $150 per closing. We need to set you up. Please send .......". At least half of the notaries would send in that info. Then ask you to set up your account online. Ask a few standard security questions (mother's maiden, etc). Then they have all they need.

I agree. I've seen some that ask for my address, as well. I usually just put my county and state, which is all they need if they have a problem with me. Otherwise, unless I'm working directly for the title co, I can think of no reason for them to have that info. Same thing with E&O insurance. There is no legal requirement for me to even have any. When they want that up front, it makes me wonder if they are just looking for someone with a target on their back. Or maybe they've just been in the habit of hiring the wrong notaries and are having too many problems. Who knows...

Agreed! I’ll send a copy of my Commission, E&O policy, background check, and a W-9. If that’s not good enough, they can call someone else.

Actually I have done 3 so far..never filled out the personal information..Been paid and haven't heard any backlash yet. I think it one of those documents they know they can not enforce, but stick it in there to see if someone will fill it out completely.
I'm not saying that will work for everyone, but it has for me so far

This is a lender's requirement not a SS or title/escrow. And it's within the loan package.

I've seen that form a couple of times but I filled it out myself. It may sound odd for me to ask but can you be listed on the site without being a notary?
