Has anybody done work for this company out of New Jersey? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

This company was discussed two days ago - scroll back to Dec 8th or use the search feature. Reports were not good.

Thx for the info. I will run the chance based on "better late than never". If I have a hard time you will hear from me again.

Read the linked posts...."better late than never"

isn't always a good thing...

If you DO have a hard time collecting, you can't say you weren't warned...

I know, but times are so hard and being this only a couple of blocks away I think is worth running the chance. I hope to be right and if not I will not complain but I will share the news.

Times are hard? Even more reason not to work for deadbeats. You have been warned.

Re: Read the linked posts...."better late than never"

If you look at their address in google you will see they're at the crossroads of two hwys, a truck stop it looks like. I did a signing for them earlier in the year, then they called me for another signing about five weeks later. I told them, hey, you haven't paid me for the last one. They paid me four days later, haven't heard from the since....hard times or not!

Times will be harder after you do this signing, spend money

on gas, toner and paper, possibly tolls, etc., and then you don't get paid.

It is not too late to turn this back over to them. I'm waiting 10 mos. for payment - just gave up as it is NOT worth the chasing of my money.

Why do these people even bother to ask?

If you're going to do the signing after reading mostly unanimous negative reviews of this company, what's the point of asking how the company is in the first place? And what exactly would it take to make you turn down the signing?

Don't be an idiot, give it back if you've already accepted it. It's people like you that allow this company to screw over so many notaries in the first place.

YE BE WARNED

Seriously though: I'd be afraid to work for a signing company that people are saying is taking 60-90 days to pay. It sounds like they might have a backlog of invoices. Money drying up maybe? How soon until they close their doors? These are things you may want to think about before taking a signing from a known very-slow-paying company.

Around the corner or not - why work for free?? I did that for another deadbeat about a year ago. I was able to walk to the signing. Took over 100 days to get paid - meanwhile the bills were piling up.

Suit yourself.

Request 1/2 or full payment up front. Since they have so

much negative press, tell them that you want some or all of your fee, via paypal, prior to closing, or they can find someone else to fill it. I would not chance it...it is way too much work chasing down the deadbeats

How is being paid in 90 days vs. 30 deemed screwed over?

Personally, I don't start chasing money until it's over 90 days late. I have enough income stream monthly that a couple of late payments doesn't throw me into the poor house. I can count the number of times I was truly screwed over (never being paid) in 5 years on one hand. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

If this company has a history of paying in 90 days and anyone is okay with waiting 90 days then by all means, do the closing.

How can you not see it as being screwed over?

There is simply no justification for a signing service taking 90 days to pay a notary. Essentially, they're forcing you to float them a free loan for 2 months and they're depriving you of the ability to use that money to pay bills, invest in your business, stick in the bank and earn interest, or whatever it is that you planned to do with it.

Just because you may not need it at that moment to survive, doesn't mean that they're not screwing you over by making you wait 3 months for it. And that you start chasing your own payments at 90 days shows that you don't find that an acceptable amount of time to wait either, so why on earth would you defend that practice?

Re: Excellent point(s) Cali- I agree 100%

Just to add on.. I did a signing for them on October 8 and got paid today which is Dec 28th. I got an order from them today as well and then called them back saying I didn't get paid for the one I did before (mail didn't come in yet for today). FWIW, he said he mailed it out on the 8th (actually he dated it the 8th and postmarked the 16th, but I digress)... so he said what he'd do it send out another check 'today' and if I get the first check then just apply this new check to the new signing I am doing tomorrow. So.... we'll see, I'll roll the dice and see if it happens. I have other companies that I 'never' have to call and always pay but are slow... it's a pain, but they DO PAY...Let's see, get paid slow or NOT GET PAID at all... and then others pay within two weeks which is what should happen.. Guess it's just part of doing business and the 'feel' you sometimes have to use. Been doing this for over 10 years and have gotten stiffed a couple of times, (never Speedy)and not a great feeling... hope this gives more insight to others.. thanks for everybody's input, it's much appreciated.
