I just noticed that more 40% of the notary profiles have been purged from my area!
Where there used to be over 200 within a 20 mile radius, there are now just 120.

Yep. Effective immediately, our profile update policies are going to be strictly enforced.
Basic (free) members who have not updated in the past 6-months will be removed. Period.
Premier members will remain exempt from removal as they 1) Have paid to be listed, and 2) Will theoretically have profiles no older than 1 year (as that is the longest membership we offer).
All members will receive periodic "update your profile" notices that will likely reach nuisance levels through a series of escalations if not acted on. For that reason, the vast majority of listings on our site will be quite current from this point forward.

I would still like to see only paid members listed on the search a notary page unless there are less than 50 paid members. I am lucky in that we don't have that many here, but I was once searching for a premier member who must have been 26 or more on the line. She wasn't showing, but 25 of the non-paying members were. In that way, it seems to defeat the purpose of paying for a membership.
I personal pay even though I don't need to in order to be "seen"; however, I pay because I like to support this website. In my eyes, it is the best and most professional one around.

25 non paying showing when there are still many paying who are not showing. If I am inputted in the wrong zip code, I don't show as over 7-8 mi. is as far as Orlando goes for the first 25.

Agreed...
If you don't fall within the first 25, it may remove incentive for some to bother becoming a paying member. Sort of counterproductive, I would think.

HA! Unfortunately, there's a whole bunch of "newbies" that
signed up, right dab smack in my area!
But the competition is not the 'worst' part. Its the fact that most of these newbies do not know what they are doing!
In a way, its good, 'cause I do get 'clean-up closings' because of certain newbies inabilities to read or perform their job correctly.
But what's sad is that they are charging $50.00 up to $85.00 a closing! whoa!
I'm hoping that the newbies in my area, 'wise up' soon and start charging a decent or respectable fee (at least so I can respect them.  )
But seriously, after all their expenses are tallied up, I'm hoping they'll that $50 bucks (even if given bulk work) is just not going to make them any profit!
