This borrower grrrrrrrrrrrrr
I had a signing last night that was set for 6 M. When I arrived only the wife was there. The husband showed up 40 minutes late. Did not set down at the table until PM. He had stop and get dinner for everyone (pizza). He rented a movie in another store. And went to anther store and bones for the 2 dogs. When he finely got there he had to feed the dogs, turn on his TV (basket ball no less) and change his cloths. Needless to say I took only 20 minuets to do my job and I was out of there.

I just don't get some people. That is sooo inconsiderate! I do realize that most people don't understand how we get paid and that we're independent contractors, but I can't think of any excuse for that kind of behavior. It's just rude.

A couple of times I would arrive at the scheduled appointment time only to find that the borrowers have decided to sit down and eat dinner, which would make me wait about 1/2 hour before I could come in and start the signing.

Every so often a borrower is late, but the situation you describe is unacceptable. Did you help out with the ironing or clean a bathroom while you were waiting?
In this case the husband had to be home by six, he did not have to do those other things you describe.
If a borrower is late you get the other borrower to call the cell phone to find out how long it will be. If there is no answer you can leave or sign the first, and then if the other does not get there, you leave. The borrower can meet you at a place convenient to you later.
If you act like a doormat, people will wipe their feet on you.

If you have called and confirmed the appointment and were told that both borrowers would be there and one of the borrowers is not there and he/she cannot be reached and you don't know where he/she is or when he/she will be there, call your contact person. That is a cancellation by the borrowers unless you and your contact person can come to some agreement where you agree to wait x number of minutes or they will pay you extra etc....

Re: Thanks for all the input. I like the no show point.
I never though of calling in a no show because the wife what there. That opens up all kinds of thing to say to his wife. I did call him from his house. He said he would be right there in 5 minuets. I thought he must have gotten stopped for driving too fast to get home. Since he did not seam to think it was very important to him get home and sign papers, I just said here are papers (named whatever they were) you can read as much as you want but you sign here. He signed in 15 minutes flat. He chose not to read any of them.
