No one here knows.....what did the companies say when you asked them about the delayed payments?
You're asking the wrong peeps.
You should address the lack of payment from the companies you decided to give a credit account.

they told me that my check would be cut on 11/30/09. Everytime I call to speak to someone they send me to Geri, so since I'm in Texas she sends me to David. He doesn't reply nor calls back on either phone number I have listed! I've been laid-off from previous job so I decided to do this to get extra money and to go back to school. Nothing is working out for me. Would you happen to know any "good" companies to work for that pay on time? By the way this is all new to me I was a welder!lol

More frustrating than delayed payment is being ignored or given the run around.

I don't have any experience with National Real Estate, but NVS usually pays within 3 weeks or so. Stupid question: Did you e-mail or fax an invoice to NVS?

TaLiarisha - First of November is probably

getting iffy on the payout time. That's 40-45 days. But not horrible. They probably intend to pay you in their next cycle and that's why the run around. What are their stated payment terms?

Never had a issue withthe companies you list

NREIS billing policy is: Billing dates fall on the 15th and 30th of every month. The cut off dates are the 11th and 26th of each month (no payment until loan disbures).

NVS usually normally pays between 6 & 14 days on my assignments.

GoodLuck!

I understand your plight of unemployment. When you decided to do this for "extra money", did you understand that it's not an easy business or easy money? While many companies pay within 30 days, some pay at 60-90. If you use Signing Central before accepting an assignment, you can get a picture of the reputation of the company before you get stiffed. The companies you reference are both good ones, and not known for any payment issues. I hope you're sending invoices, and not expecting to be paid automatically. Did you read message 33325? You can find it using the orange search button at the top of the page. Good luck.

You have to learn the basics of Business 101 before you jump into a business like this. Research this site before you commit yourself. We all deal with late pays from different companies. We also deal with the "pay window". Take the time to learn about these topics.

Like any other kind of business venture, unless you do the necessary research, you can easily get burned.

Now I see what everybody is talking about. Can't judge a book by its cover! I knew that their would be a time frame but I'm feeling ignored. Yes, before i do any closings I ask for invoices so that I can get paid in timely manner. This company Signing Central sent me on my very first " WILD GOOSE CHASE"! I learned from them to ask more questions and to dig deeper. Didn't recieve trip fee from them because the address they gave me NO HOUSE, PERSON, PHONE NUMBERS nobody new these people. I drove around for to hours couldn't find them. But this company thought it was funny. I wasn't laughing at all.

It isn't unusual for companies to go 60 days before payment. Don't think you will get paid by everyone as quickly as you expect. There's a lot to learn in this business about business.

Title companies do not like hear from notaries who complain about SS not paying. For one thing, it increases their cost of business and ratings. Find out if the SS has been paid for your work first. Then, complain (after your demand letter has been sent), if you're lucky (sic) you'll be sued like me, for telling the truth!

TaLarisha, congrats on getting so much work so quickly. This is a great site for help, so keep coming back. Read, read, read. And don't neglect to read messages #33325 and 312520 as suggested.

I think you misunderstood MV/VA when he/she said for you to consult "Signing Central" for help. If you look at the very top of this page you will see the words Notary Rotary; underneath them you will see seven blue tabs: Home, Find a Notary, Notary Talk, SIGNING CENTRAL, Notary Public 101, Notary Supplies, and The Library.

The SIGNING CENTRAL tab (the fifth blue tab) is where the suggestion was trying to point you. After clicking that tab, you'll come to a page that has four vignettes--one says Signing Service Listing. If you click that vignette, you'll find a list of companies you may OR may not want to accept assignments from. As you take your time reading through the list, please notice that each has been rated using the STAR system. This will help you to know who YOU do or don't want to bother with.

Another suggestion I think you misunderstood dealt the matter of an "INVOICE." YOU send invoices to the companies you do assignments for--they don't send them to you. Each company usually explains their method of payment in the confirmation, instructions, or some other form--like an application. With some companies you need invoices to get paid, with others your check will simply arrive according a particular company's policies.

I sure hope I'm not telling you stuff you're already aware of . . . .

Phyllis

Re: This sounds a bit cynical

I don't think that its odd to want another career! I've missed out on a lot of time with my child working in a plant, getting burned, or getting run over or just being a cute chick that doesn't take no or you can't do that because I'm a girl for an answer. And who knows maybe this isn't what GOD wants me to do anyway! I'm just trying to occupy my time the best way I can and still be INDEPENDANt besides I'll be in school next year so maybe I'll be that LVN, RN, MA or PHARMASIST! Basicly I'm tired of welding and its not about the money either. Just wanna be happy with th decisions I make.

I'm all for your plans. Go TaLarishsa!

The wonderful thing about being young and having vision is that you can try out a few things and then figure out what your "bliss" is...or at least something close. Welding is a very respectable trade, but in North Tx I hear things are really slow. I have a stepson who is a welder in that area so that's where that comes from. (I have no idea what area you are in.) Welding used to be a way to make a lot of money in Texas but unless you've got an "in" somewhere, it's not the best trade right now. I have a cousin who could make as much as $10K in a month in East Tx doing special jobs for a brick factory, no less, as a SIDE job (he's got chicken houses as his primary work) but that's kind of rolled back for now.

Go to school...great plan! The notary biz is a slow go right now but you might be able to pick up a little work until the semester starts. One thing about it...LVNs and RNs are always in demand these days. Good luck with your endeavors.

Re: Excellent response!

* Its like I have a new family! *

You do! We are like a bunch curious pups. Maybe I just speak for myself, but it's like we have to sniff everyone out and figure out where they've been, so to speak. And, if we like what we smell then we'll let you sniff us. (Surely, I did NOT just use a dog rear sniffing analogy to welcome a new poster. Hopefully, I did not say that allowed. I should never be allowed on this board after 10 pm.)

When a girl comes on here and says, "I'm a welder, but I'm going to work at being a signing agent while I go to school." I just can't be too worried about her determination factor...it speaks for itself. You're going to do well in life.

The signing agent business is difficult right now. I saw a slowdown in Texas years ago and decided I was not going to be satisfied with what the market would provide me. I work full time. I will only do a signing appointment if it pays fairly (well) and if it's really a convenient situation.

Looking at where you are located I would say that you stand to be able to slowly develop a good business because you are fairly isolated IF you can cover a lot of territory. But, you need to get your fees up to accommodate that kind of travel. Don't be afraid to set your fees up higher than they offer. See if you get the job. Test the market. I have not checked for others in your territory but I would say there's a good chance that there's not a lot of dependable notary service in your area. However, if there's DFW notaries who will travel a long way for a little you will see people doing your area for peanuts. They won't last. Check out your competition's positioning and start making a spreadsheet for all the areas you will visit and for how much.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I live in Pittsburg its about 175 miles away from Dallas. If you know Bo Pilgrim ( Pilgrim's Pride) I live about 5 miles from him. The healthcare industry is really booming now so that's why i decided to go back to school. Won't have to worry about being laid-off! LOL! DIdn't think that I could weld but i did it! NREIS always wants the invoice sent back with the docs. It took me a little while to get in the habit of this. Are you sending your invoices back w/docs or separately? I've not had much trouble betting paid. Sometimes a little slow, but never bad.
