Adobe Reader 9 question

Does anyone else out there think that the new Adobe 9 reader is rather slow. I used to have the Adobe 7.0 that seemed to me to be a lot faster.
Just wonder what your opinion is about the subject.

Everyone have a great weekend Smile

Actually, just the opposite, Ted. I find version 9 to be much faster than any previous version, especially when printing "image" docs.

Are you using PCL6 drivers for your printer? PCL5e and/or PS with version 9 may be slowing it down some.

Another thing may be the version of Windows you are using. I'm using Vista Home Premium (32-bit not 64-bit) and Windows 2000/2003 Server. If you're using the 64-bit version, there may be something with that. (Guess on my part.)

Thanks Paul. Just replaced the hard drive and I'm trying to restore everything. Back to the drawing board for me. Smile I'll keep working on it.

Have a great weekend.

While we're on the subject...

I, too, recently upgraded to Adobe Reader 9 and have since noticed that I can no longer print two collated copies of a multiple page doc. Anyone else have this issue? (BTW, I love the feature where you can get a full-page view with one click, and easily scroll down one page at a time.)

Re: While we're on the subject...

Usually no problem with multiple collated copies of multi-page documents here. It may be something to do with your printer driver. I have noticed that sometimes I too cannot print 2 collated copies of large PDF files. I think it may be due to printer memory overrun since the printer memory would need to hold the complete print image of the file, rather than just one page.

As for full-page view and paging up and down, that's been an option in just about all previous versions going back to v3.

Thanks!

Guess I wasn't paying attention before. Wink I had version 7 before I upgraded. I'll have to check my printer drivers again to see if there's anything more current. I wasn't having any problem before, but now, even for a small number of pages, it doesn't seem to work. I've been looking into upgrading my printer anyway. (I'd rather get it done before it becomes urgent.)

Re: Adobe Reader 9 question - FoxIt Reader

I now use the free version of FoxIt Reader and it is lightening fast and print results are excellent.
