Nations Direct
Has anyone worked with them? They call you before the closing, during the closing, after the closing, hand holding, and they only want to pay $40.

I seldom work for them, but when they are desperate, they pay my full fee. I charge extra because the hand-holding is annoying.

Is it necessary to post the list of comments!
All one has to do is look in the links from Signing Central, there is absolutely no need to reply with a "laundry list" of the dates and comments!

I did one closing for them in December and was told I would receive payment about 01/16/09 well received payment after 2 month and begging and threating they called me this week for me to do a closing told them my fee they said sure well remember how hard it was to get my fee so I canceled and they were very rude.

They have the reputation in the business as being the ultimate low-ballers. It baffles me why anyone would work for those absurd fees & then have to chase payment.

Newbies and people not on a site like this work for them
There are plenty of part-time and new notaries that just do an occasional closing or are just getting started, and they have never gotten on a site like this to discover the real professional world of the Mobile Notary. So they think $40 or $50 is a standard fee and have no idea they'll have to fight to get paid.

They meet my fees when I do business with them but wont work for them anymore because it took begging and threating to get money from my signing

We can continue to discuss all of the issues and I guess we agree that working for them is not profitable, etc. However, they continue to be in business so that means they also continue to get Notaries to work for the lowball fees.

As the market improves they may be in trouble
They bid low to companies to get the work and many struggling notaries have been working for them because they didn't have any other source of income or just desperately needed the added income small though it may be. As the market improves and notaries become busy they will turn down low paying jobs. Nations Direct could find itself in trouble because they are contractually obligated and cannot re-negotiate rates with the TC's and Lenders until their contracts expire. At the same time they will be unable to find enough notaries at the low rates to filulfill their contracts. Anyway we can only hope this is the case.

Re: As the market improves they may be in trouble
Nations Direct was the only company that cared to hire me for signings when I first started out. I didn't mind the low fees because I needed to gain experience and pay my dues before marketing directly to escrow companies for a higher fee.

I did one last weekend. BUT won't make that mistake again. The handholding is tooooo much for no more pay and on Friday night. FAXed in paperwork after family emergency and they called on Sat. 3 times looking for paperwork and finally one guy asked why the borrowers husband didn't sign. Again today they call said didn't get the fax but wondered why husband didn't sign. IF no FAX how do they know he didn't sign.

Re: As the market improves they may be in trouble
Nations Direct isn't a notary training site--they are an ss. What gets me about these companies is that they can't pay a decent fee, but can pay a lot of employees to "babysit" & "hand-hold". Just a reminder that we are the ones that set the fees by what we are willing to accept. I get it, and thought that I would need to work for companies like this when I was new. I quickly set a minimum fee of $100, and have never regretted doing that.
