Proficiency Signings Corp - Electronic Signature Email
How many of you received this email about Proficeincy Signings in regards to the Esignings? I will have to do some more checking, but I am located in Illinois and I was not aware that we had the Electronic notary seal available for our state yet.
Does anyone know the best place to get these Electronic Seals? I know the NNA can issue them for some states, but I did not see Illinois on that list and was wondering if there was another company who issues these. I know some other states have been working with these for a while now and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks for any info.
Also, are there any Illinois Notaries that are seeing the Esignings pick up? I have been set up up to do them (only with paper docs that need notarized of course) for a year now and I have yet to get a request for it.

To be honest, I do not think that IL is either. But I thought that I might have missed something. I believe that, at this time, we can Esign the "junk docs" but anything that needs notarization is going to have to be printed to paper and notarized the "old fashion way".

That is correct.

Check some of the other threads on the E-sign topic. Proficiency confused the two terms, as many are doing, and creating confusion. E-signing is NOT E-notarization. They are two separate things. E-signing is the brain-child of Amtrust Bank. They created e-signing. It benefits them because they can fund the loan immediately & not have to wait for the paperwork. It is not less work or less expense for us. There are still paper docs involved. It is not totally paperless, as some would have you believe. Amtrust has marketed to lenders & tc's, and charge them a "penalty" if it doesn't go e-sign. Most companies that have gone for it require the notary to have a laptop & aircard. I had gone that route, but recently took the hit for the early terminate fee on the aircard. IME, the business volume did not warrant the expense .

We rcvd the email as well and from what I understand, it isn't available in Illinois yet. We have rcvd 2 calls in the past 2 years for this request. Until we see an increase in requests from many of our clients, we do not feel it is worth the extra work/expense either.

>because they can fund the loan immediately & not have to wait for the paperwork.< What about the RTC. The laon can NOT fund until the 4th day. Also, the doc security seem to be a problem, anyone with the right equipment/konwlegde can "listen" in on wireless transmissions. I, too, have a couple of calls in the last year, I can't justify the additional cost.

I do not understand the "funding immediately" thing either....unless they are referring to investment properties where the RTC does not apply.
But, 80% or more of my biz is refinances ....... and when I do run into an investment property, most TCos will request that the funding docs be faxed and then dropped via carrier for O/N delivery. So I assume they are funding off of the faxed copies in this case.

I have yet to be called to do an Esign in southern IL, nor do I have the equipment.

I've done two esigning, but used the clients computer to perform the assignment. I've suggested to the SS that if the client does not have a computer (I do not have a aircard), that we use a library, school, coffee shop with free wifi. Also, I now ask for the RTC to be printed in case I need to change the dates.
I would then burn the documents to a CD rom in my computer to provide copies of the esigned docs to the client.
