Supplies
I have just became a notary. I work for a tax/investment business so i was notarized for the clients at the firm. I need to order supplies. Can anyone give me ideas on what I really need? I searched online but not sure what is needed for sure. Thank you in advance

You should already have your 'rubber stamp notary seal'. That, and a Notary Handbook from your state (usually available online from your state SoS--do read it, please) and a journal should be all you need to make your employer happy. Even if your state does not require a journal, it's still a good idea. Anything beyond the above is 'fluff' and not needed.

Also, please note...
you weren't 'notarized for the clients'. You 'became a Notary' (or received your Notary commission) and you 'notarize the signatures' of clients of the firm. Misuse of the terms drives most of us right up the wall, OK? A Notary is a person---who notarizes signatures on documents.

Mallorie-you should also purchase a booklet on California notary Laws. You can get all of this from the National Notary Association. If you join the organization they will send you informative magazines that you will find useful also and you can call their help line when you have questions. Its a good thing to do when you are new.

No, not the NNA . . . they do not
always give correct advice and information. Your state has online a manual for you to download. Use it. Print it. Refer to it as your new work bible (not capitalized so as to not offend). To further support my position on this point of view, research here as XYZ (what we call them).
Sorry Bravo - bad advice. JMO and that of many others here.

She's in Md....
And I'd just refer her to the store right here - not the NNA...

Remember that the journal and seal are yours to keep.....
even if your employer paid for them. You need to keep them locked up when not in use. You should not let anyone else use them. Should you cease to be employed there and you still are an active notary, take them with you.

If your planning on closing loans you need a Maryland Title Insurance License. No one will hire you without it if they are on the up and up.
