Genuine Title, Maryland

While I was out on another assignment today, Genuine Title called me for a signing tonight. I accepted then rushed to nearest computer to looked them up on NotRot. Lo and behold! They seem to have a reputation for very slow pay. So, I emailed them to cancel me and they (Kosty) said the following:

We pay everyone, unfortunately notaries are not the brightest people as you may know and cannot follow simple instructions to email me the invoice. Either way your loss have a great day

Sure glad I didn't do it! Thanks NotRot!!!!

We've only heard that a million times from various companies. The old "The notary didn't invoice properly" excuse... I'm wondering how all those dimwitted notaries managed to notarize all their docs properly so all the loans got funded??? If I weren't so dimwitted, I might know the answer!

Embarrassingly, sometimes I forget to invoice

But that is no excuse for the company not sending me a reminder. As we all know, different companies have different requirements. Some want no invoice, some want an invoice with the package, some absolutely do not want the invoice with the package, some want it faxed, some want it emailed. Some say entering your completion info on the website is your "invoice" and a separate invoice will confuse their system and delay payment. Some say don't invoice at all, they or their system processes payment automatically.
But all of these companies know they have hired a notary who did the work and who is entitled to payment. If a closing was done 3 or 4 months (or longer) ago, and no payment was made to the notary, the bookkeeper should send an email to the notary asking for the invoice.
This is simple bookkeeping! They got paid, including the notary's fee. They don't get to keep the notary's fee just because the notary hasn't sent an invoice.

That kind of snotty response only reinforces that you made the right decision. Then again, I guess if I had a ton of notaries calling me constantly to complain about not being paid, I'd develop a little disdain for them too.

Now since I am a member I can answer this problem. What the person who wrote this post did not explain was that they cancelled a closing. It was this past monday the last day of the month. We have 70 closings and docs came late for a 6pm closings, it was 8pm when docs were sent and the closer cancelled and did not want to do the closing to make a statement. I can understand if it was any other day and it got late but every notary knows the last day of the month. I can understand if you take a closing then go on a site see and not like the reputation and cancel but dont wait till 8 at night on the last day to make a statement. I have 300 closings a month in all 50 states so yes I stay by my word that notaries in very rural states are what they are. We all watch tv and know exactly what im talking about. take my post for what you want.
