Since I mentioned LandAm and fraud in the same breath a couple of days ago, I feel
I should post that I got paid as agreed. Check came yesterday in under 20 days.
Of course, they have always paid in about 10 days or less in the past.

That is b/c not all of their divisions are filing for bankruptcy. As far as I know, Land Am One Stop is not filing and Lender Default Services is not filing.

I did a REO for Lender default about 3 weeks and was paid w/in 1 week. I just called LandAm One Stop for another issue and they are there and working.

Additionally, not all bankruptcy is equal. Some companies go under restructuring and make good on payments.

Obviously, take orders at your own risk.

FYI.. I did a closing for land america one stop on 12/23/08 and instead of a check, I rec'd a bk notice on 1/7/09. Maybe everyone just needs to be aware of the possibilities. I also saw where a number of notaries who rec'd checks in dec had them bounce and no response from laos as to why???

I guess I have to eat some crow now as I did receive a check today from land america one stop for the closing I did for them 12/23. I did receive a chapter 11 bk notice on 1/7/09 filed by land america financial group. I never dealt with the financial group, always with one stop. Don't know what all of this is about , but I felt I should advise fellow notaries that I was paid and the check is good..
