Only from Nations Direct. They pay $60 and want damn near the entire pkg faxed back to them. I did one closing for them right near me, didn't fax anything and refused anymore of their business. I really hate telling any company not to call me, but it's not worth it. I don't mind $90-$115 if it's close by, but I try not to drop below $125. Now small cash transactions are OK for $60-$75. Good luck dear, I know it's tough.

The entire industry seems to be at a stand still. Mortgage rates just dropped below 5% ...that is if you can get a lender to lend. It makes no sense to accept substandard fees. If you accept the lower fee you will have difficulty getting a higher fee during the later recovery. The signing services seem to be using the current economic down turn as an excuse to pay lower fees. I will not accept them.

No, I did not accept them. I have a rate that I have been going by for about 3 years. I see no reason to lower them.

I refused to lower my fee . I did not increase my fee when gas prices went through the roof. I will not lower my fee now, just because gas prices are lower. It will all balance out.

Exactamente! Alice, One Ss that I do a lot of business told me the other day that the gas prices are low right now and if I can do it for a little lower too. I promptly responded that she never raised my price when I was paying 4.29 a gallon!

This statement may be true for many parts of the country, but I'm still getting my regular fees. My business approach was never to cater to the "low-ballers" in the first place. I used to get $150 regularly from tc's, and now most will pay $125. I can handle that adjustment. Try to remember that there are some notaries out there that are probably only worth $40-$50 for the kind of work they do. Remember, we do establish fees by what we are willing to accept.

Why someone would choose to work for these people-Nations Direct-is beyond me--THEY DO NOT PAY!!!--a simple search here would expose their practices. It wouldn't matter what they AGREED to pay, they just wouldn't pay. They are in the same league as Sox-DON'T WORK FOR THEM!!!! DO A SEARCH!!!!

Nations Direct was $50.00....has lied for 6 years!
About 6 years ago.....Nations Direct used to pay $50.00 a closing then they sent out an email stating they were financially strapped for money and that the closing fees would be lowered to $40.00.......just for a short time.....until they got their feet back on the ground! Well that was 6 years ago and the rate has still remained at $40.00. Nations Durect would rather hire extra employees at the California location to check up on newbie notaries and their document.....than pay the experienced notary a decent closing fee. The HASSEL of endless phone calls and fax backs that Nation Direct puts you through is NOT worth the headaches and peanuts they pay and beside ALL that they have lied for 6 years about the closing fees returning to the original $50.00. Most notaries that I know......laugh at Nations Direct when they call......I politely state, before they get in a word....."Hello, I don't do $40.00 dollar closings!"

I received an e-mail from a signing service stating they needed a notary in my area to close a reverse mortgage for them. Their fee - $100.00 w/edocs. I told them that i would consider the assignment but only if they accepted my set fee. Quess what - they say, no, not interested. And, what is suprising is that I have worked for this company before and they always met my fee. I guess they don't think there is too much to do as far as a reverse mortgage goes - hello - there are about 50% more pages and if the loan officer is there, it is about a two hour closing and if he/she isn't there and they don't understand, then it is still at least a 2 hour closing because they are on the phone with the L/O trying to make heads or tails of what was told them. I guess I just don't get it.

Of course not - but if you read the comments in Signing
Central, you will see that they do not say they are a no-pay company.
That's all I am pointing out.
