Thanks to Not Rot
Well, I'm up and running again after a year. I got my TN Commission, renewed my membership on this site and.. presto - a signing tonight. Actually it's the 3rd call I've received since listing my profile (two weeks ago) so this site must be the happening place to find a signing agent!
A couple months ago I asked ya'all about high-speed internet when you're in the sticks & can't get DSL and decided to go - as a few of you recommended - with Hughesnet. It worked like a charm as I printed out the docs, yeah!!! Now to get the nerve to quit the 9-5...
I have emailed notrot three times requesting my CA be changed to TN. No luck. Please change my forum alias and governing state Harry, please, please, please.

Re: Now you are an official southerner, profile and all
Ha! I felt very southern last night fixin' black-eyed peas with hog jowells and cornbread. Gone are the days of wine and crablegs - I have to drive forever to find somewhere that sells alcohol (except beer) and if I mention crablegs, people look at me real funny. It a different life, that's for sure, but in a good way. Now to find a fedex dropoff....

It's so good to see you post again! Tennessee is a beautiful state and a far cry from California, I know, I left CA for TN back in 1987 and have not left the south since. Well, except for a seven month jaunt back to NorCal in 2003 and the experience just reminded me why I love the south and could never live in Cali again.
It sure is nice to hear from you again, Blueink. Please keep us posted on your progress in TN and... GO VOLS...maybe next year.
Peace

Heey, Blueink! I love the sound of "...quit the 9-5." That
old Blind Leap.
It's picking up in my neck of the woods, and I'm hearing alot of positive (cautious optimism, too) about this next year.
Perhaps 'steady as she goes' is as good a by-word as any, as long as you can do both for the time being. Two-week notices were my favorite letters to write.
One of my jokes about self-employment is: "I can't hire me, I charge myself too much." Nyuk nyuk. (Oh, I think I'm so funny.)
Anyway, I'd like to second your kudos to NotRot. A constant source of work. Isn't it great to see a business thrive by generating so much work for so many people, and a forum to boot? (Cue: ZZ Top, 'Nationwide'). Thank you, Harry and Crew - and here's to a brand new year!
And raising a glass to you, Blueink, you had quite a year.
Happy New Year!

Thanks to all for the words of encouragement
I would LOVE to quit my job right now. I don't mind working hard, I just have a problem being told what to do by people that I think are incompetent. Maybe I've just been independent too long. My shortcoming has always been that I don't respect authority (well, that's what I have been told anyways). And I'm really trying to humble myself at my 9-5 'cause I know I'm lucky to be working. But if I can get enough signings and go independent again - yeah!!!!
