rotten luck....

....while on my way to a closing this morning, I didn't see this huge pothole due the fact that the car in front of me had its exhaust fumes just coming all over my front end, and low and behold, I did it...my tire blew out!

....it's so cold out here (Chicago) and its like driving thru a war stricken town! UGHHHHHH

The weather is just horrible in many part of the country. I've got to give all of you a lot of credit for being out there working in spite of it. Stay warm!

Last winter I blew TWO tires in one pot hole..

while driving to a signing in a snow storm. I pulled into a Micky Ds
to await the tow truck. Was faiirly close to bwr, and he was nice enough
to drive to McDs and we signed dox there.

Sorry for your trouble. Did a closing once and was backing because I past the house number. Street was called Split Rock Road. I found out why. I backed into the low split rock arising out of the street. It cost me about $700. to have my car fixed. Took a couple of closings to recover from that expense.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I can't imagine you fellow notaries working in that weather. I see on tv the big snow storms and think of the notaries that have to go to people's homes to get their signatures. I bet CA SSs don't give you extra $$ for the extraordinary conditions you guys and gals do over there.

Right now I have my car in the shop for a check engine light on. It will be more than 400.00 dollars to fix. And that's not deductible because I take mileage and you can't go one year actual expenses and the next mileage.

That dreaded 'check engine' light...I fixed that after

spending a *ton* on the wrong 'fixes' by replacing the spark plugs with the platinum ones that were originally installed at the factory. That was for my Subie.

For some reason, using the correct spark plugs did the trick - as it never was the exhaust gas recirculation valve - the 'smog thing.'

You might give it a try...

thanks all...much love...feel better...soup helped too!

Hi Bob, where are you from, that is what part of the city?

And you know, thinking about the extra $$ for severe weather, wonder if I can get a away with adding a fee for severe weather, I mean if the weather goes below -10 degrees, like it has been in Chicago for the last few days, why not???

I cover northern Vermont, and adjust my fees depending on weather and road conditions - and for some areas, there is a "moose fee".

I live in the San Fernando Valley. It is 2:17pm and the temp outside is 79 degrees. Everyone should consider coming to Southern California for their winter vacation. Oh, many do. Best of luck to everyone.

Re: Vacation in California

"Everyone should consider coming to Southern California for their winter vacation."

Two years ago this very wekend, I was in San Diego for a conference. The temp was in the '30s and '40s, best I can remember. 79 would have been awsome!
