An Idea - Signing Central

I was scrolling thru the list of companies on Signing Central. I saw a company with a 4-Star Rating and considered registering with them. However, when I looked at the notary comments, it appears that all of the ratings in 2009 have been 1-Star only. Apparently 2008 (and earlier) things were different and notaries were giving the company 3 & 4-Star ratings.

What do you think about limiting a company's rating to either the current calendar year; or a rolling 12 month period? I'm thinking it would paint a more accurate picture.

I don't want to make the suggestion to Harry unless enough of us think it makes sense. It could be I'm overlooking something important. I know there are flaws in the current system and that it can never be perfect, but we can keep fine tuning it can't we?

ON the surface, that sounds like a good idea. However, I suspect that some of the better companies that have maintained good standing with their notaries, might not have as many recent comments. In those cases, one person who had a bad experience could skew the results to a negative that might not be fairly earned. As it stands now, we can do exactly what you did and come to our own conclusions.

I do agree, though, that what was true last year, in many cases is no longer the case. I'd just hate to see any of the good guys be hurt by that.

I pay more attention to the comments than the # of stars.

I think you both made good points. n/m
