Anyone doing inspections?

I've never got one of these calls before today...company wanting me to do a Drive-By Inspection of a house, take a couple pics of the new windows and solar panel on the roof. They said they got my name off NotRot. Are there companies out there that you can sign up with to these?

Re: Anyone doing inspections? Calling Brenda...

A rare few. Pay isn't worth it unless it's very close & you've nothing better to do or are headed that way anyway. Some co's and some inspections are better/easier than others. Brenda/TXNotary has a bunch of info on these.

Yep. Look for Becca/FL

She has a list and more info. I do have a semi-active group list with archives but Becca's got a field inspection list.

I actually started doing "Field Inspections" last year after reading in a magazine article written by another notary assn. that is could be another avenue for income for notaries. It hasn't proven to be prolific, but it is different and is very low stress. You can google field inspectors to find companies, but I believe that the best way to market yourself in this regard is to simply add it to your profiles with all of your signing agencies. As I said, the fees are low ($30) so I wouldn't spend a ton of time in this area.

I work for two companies every once in a while they give me 3-4 in a day. Since there's very little buz in the mtg ind. it keeps me busy and out of trouble.

I complete about 20 to 30 per month. Depending on the coverage in your area you maybe able to negotiate a higher fee. I generally stay within a 15 mile radius. I average about 45mins per assignment travel and completion time. I have been blessed to complete more than one assignment per trip thereby lowering my time average substantially.

Yeah--this one was for $30 and literally 3 blocks from my house. Only had to take pics of the front. Seemed like a pretty easy job!

I never seem to get any that are this easy and pay that much. I've done some for Clear Capital that paid $15 - I only accept ones that are less than 5 miles from my home office. They require a few pics and a short write-up of my observations.

I've also done several for Property Resource Network that paid $20 and they involved interviewing someone at the business. I stopped doing them because they were too time consuming for $20 and they took at least 45 days to pay - just not worth the hassle.

I also did one for LeaseInpection.com that paid $50, but again it involved speaking with the manager on duty and taking a plethora of photos of the exercise equipment at the business, writing down serial numbers, etc. Afterward I decided I was not interested in doing another.

I was doing these inspections when things were slow as molasses in the loan signing biz - now I don't have time.

My company is called Vision Compliance. We're a DBA of American Tile. We do a few types of inspections that we like to hire notaries for. If you are interested please give us a call at 866-396-7189. We can send you some information to give you a better feel of what we do.

Re: Vision Compliance

They do pay on a timely basis ... via ACH. Easy people to work with; their package is pretty straight-forward, and generally consistent from one job to another. From start (opening their work order) to finish (submitting completed questionnaire & pix) usually takes me about three hours.

Re: Vision Compliance

I've worked for Vision Compliance as well. Forms are super easy to fill out, directions are clear to understand and it doesn't take too much time. They pay as agreed and don't waste time to pay for a job completed. Just wish I had more phone calls from them!!

I've worked for American Title/Vision Compliance

for many years now and they are great to work with...one of the better paying field inspection companies for sure. I consistently work for others as well and bring in a few extra $$$ per month doing inspections. They are easy to do, you can do them when you want and they require very little effort. The key to making money at this is planning. Know what zip codes you are willing to work, plan your inspections and work a route.

I've received a few calls for inspections. I've only regularly accepted work from one of them, though. I do heavy equipment inspections for them. It's way easy and pays well enough that I tuck in my schedule when I want. For this company I just take a hand full pf photos and do a quick interview of someone on site. It usually takes less than 10 minutes on site and less than 20 minutes to write up the report. The pay for the work is worth it.

The lady that calls me says that everyone she's called from NotRot always does an amazing job for them.

I worked for an insurance inspection company a couple of years ago and they paid $7.00 per residential inspection!!! Trouble is, I loved the job. Had to give it up when I had a major health issue. Climbing in and out of the car and walking up steep hills, etc. just couldn't be done any longer. Darn.
