Best laser printer for mobile notaries

Just wondering which laser printer people are happy with. I had an HP 1022, which was fine, but recently stopped working. I am considering a dual tray printer, but they are very expensive, not sure I need such a high-powered printer (up to 100,000 pages per month). Please let me know if you have a printer you really like and why
thanks!

Re: I like my HP P2055dn dual tray

Look around for a refurbished place in your area. I bought 2 HP 4100's for $45 each. Both are dual tray. If you are currently printing everything on legal size paper, you are wasting lots of money. The money you will save in that alone will pay for a dual tray. IMO
I would hate printing all legal. Although it is allowed to do that, I'm sure they don't appreciate it. Invest in the proper equipment.

LSI no longer will allow everything to be printed on legal. (So I am told.) They ''require'' a dual tray printer to be able to print mixed sized document packages.

I have one too, and it rocks! Much better than the old HP 2100 which was soooooo slow.

Don't you still have to select the pages? There are two trays, but the printer cannot detect which are legal and which are letter - so I've been told by HP. Is that true?

The HP P2055dn will detect letter and legal. I didn't know how to set it up, but LisaNC came over and did it for me. She got brunch and a mimosa out of the deal!

Also try supermediastore.com. I have been uses their replacements for the last few months and they are great. I have also refilled them and I haven't had any issues. They also have better prices and have an additional 15% off all of their toner right now. HTH

Ooops. Hit the wrong key...

They are advertising 75% off ink and toner vs. msrp with an offered coupon code. I normally just delete these, but saw it just after reading this thread. I'm not even going to click on it to check types available unless someone can vouch for them.

Just today - I finally learned how to get my P2055dn to auto select the correct page size! Boy, what a relief that was. I have been trying to figure it out for weeks.
You're printer has to be configured "just right"

Do you have to have three trays for the HP P2055dn in order for it to print both legal and letter within the same doc automatically?

thanks! I was wary of refurbished equipment, but you both seem satisfied. I looked into the HP 2055dn. It has two trays, but cannot distiguish between legal and letter so you still have to select the paper size, page by page - right?

Not if your print settings are set up correctly. When your print icon comes up you should be able to choose (check) print per PDF size. If the printer is set up correctly it should spit them out in the required size.

If you purchase the HP2055x, it comes with the extra tray at a less expensive price than purchasing the 2055dn & another tray separately. I purchased mine direct from HP. It was costly but when I bought it (a few months ago) they were backordered for several weeks. If you watch the prices on the website fluctuate by about $50 depending on the mood they are in. It's pricey but it is soooo nice to push a button and watch those letter & legal sheets just fly out!

Dual tray printers do cost more up front but since letter size paper is about $10.00 less per case in the long run you will be better off. I wish I would have realize this up front.

I use a Lexmark T640dn, with 3 trays. It's costly to start with, but the consumables, other than paper, is less than .003 per page. I have used Lexmarks for over 20 years without a problem. The T640 will push out 30 pages per minute, without even breathing hard. It's the least expensive printer to own and use in the long run. HP consumables run about .03 - 045 per page, think about it. BTW, if printing from PDF files, just check the box 'Chose paper source by PDF size. You must set one tray to letter and other one to legal and let it fly. HTH.

Lexmark T642 (or T640) are great machines for the price and

you do not have to add additional trays. I have been using a T642n for over a year and use the main tray to hold legal and the manual feed tray (MP tray in Lexmark lingo) for the letter and it spits out over 45PPM letter and legal per the PDF size. The main tray holds a ream of legal and the manual only holds 100 pgs. I think, but it runs like a champ that way.

I just got the HP 2055dn. Can anyone help with with setting it up to automatic print both letter and legal? So far I can't even get it to print from any tray except tray 1.
Does the set up have to be at the control panel on the printer? Or from the file/print drop down box.
Any help appreciated.

Re: TonerInks.com - great deal on printers

This is the best deal I have found anywhere. Like everyone else I am leary of remanufactured cartridges, but I have purchased over 20 cartridges from this company and never had a problem. In fact the cartridges are filled to the top and I usually get about 400 pages after the low toner light comes on. Example: HP 1320 49X toner for $29.90 and shipping is a flat $5.90 regardless of your order. I purchased a rebuilt HP1320 as a backup for $150, including a full toner cartridge. Martin Shahoony is the owner of this small business and he is a block away from NNA headquarters in Chatsworth CA. He is a good guy check him out - tell him Roy sent ya ;-)
