CA Notaries: Heads up. The SOS....

has redesigned the Notary Section of their website. Some things are really different.

http://www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/

Something new? They now have not only the current handbook available online but going all the way back to 2005 as well.

Yeah... no kidding, right??

It's odd, because you can pretty much verify every other professional in this state.

I am a tax advisor and register with CTEC where clients can go input my name and there it is. Data will tell them my status etc.... Maybe with Notaries something similar can be done.

Why now?

Why given the current State of California budget crisis and the $23 Billion shortfall that the state doesn't have in the bank why would the SOS spend the money necessary to redesign the website?

Brains? Oh, I though they said trains.

Re: Why now?

Another excuse to increase the number of state employees in a money crisis. Wonderful idea, NOT!

Re: Why now?

Knowing how long it takes to fully develop a new website, even for a small site, I submit that the process was started long before the crisis came to a head. However, I don't see why the project wasn't shelved when dollars became so tight. A new website, impo, isn't a necessity to their business.

You would think... but no..

last year they painted a "bike lane" on my street. I haven't seen a bicycle on this street in the 4 yrs I've lived here. Why would we possibly need a bike lane?

Oh wait, we do park our motorcycles in the bike lane when we're getting ready to take off on a ride... ; ) Well, the ARE 'bikes' tee hee hee
