Client First Settlement Funding

***DEADBEAT ALERT***

I did a structured settlement for them last month. The signer was a no show twice. Chris Forbes promised to pay the two trip fees. To date they have not payed and will not return phone calls or respond to emails.

I wrote the owner, Burt Kroner, a certified letter demanding payment and still have not received a response. The next step is to get a judgement and make a complaint against them to the agency who licenses them in Florida.

This company is another CLOSING QUEST type operation. Avoid them like the plague.

There was nothing on them in Signing Central when I took the assignment. I've added them so the next person will know what to expect.

If you accept work from them, ask for payment up front EACH time.

Their contact information is:

Smart move on your part: linked them and posted in Signing Central. This will help many that may not read your missive today. On their behalf, and mine, I thank you. I have never worked for them, but now will not be bothered either.

Re: Just a silly question...

Prior to or with the demand letter, did you send an invoice? I know it may seem like a silly question but believe it or not, some notaries don't invoice and just wait for payment. I've worked with them several times and recall them paying me 3 times full fee for the same package due to multiple trips and payment was made rather quickly (this was only 3 months ago).

But I do think it is suspect that they are not responding to you.

I'll send you some contact names I have over there.

Re: Just a silly question...

*Update*
The demand letter did the trick. I received a check for both trip fees today.

MsM, to answer your question:
Yes. I invoiced them. I ALWAYS invoice. Even if the company asks me not to. I invoice for my records and because of situations like this.

Some of these companies just think they should not pay notaries for trip fees and this is one of those companies. I contacted them at various emails and phone numbers. They were definitely ignoring me. I guess they think if they ignore you long enough you'll just drop it. I notice this is a particular problem with the settlement type companies. From now on I won't accept any assignments from these type companies unless they pay upfront. Too many bad ones out there.

Thanks for the offer of help, anyways.
