Computer Technical Support
I just hung up the phone with HP Technical Support (overseas). I'm normally not hypertensive but I'm fairly sure if I were to check my blood pressure right now, I'd be close to stroke-ville.
My 2 Year Service Support package for my desktop expires in 19 days and I won't be renewing it (too much stress). I've used the Geek Squad in the past for an old laptop and I wasn't impressed. They held on to the laptop for weeks and didn't do anything with it. I've also used someone out of the Yellow Pages - not good.
I know many of you are do-it-yourself kind of folk, but I'm just not technically inclined. Any suggestions about how to locate a good computer support person.
Thanks.

Try your local chamber of commerce. Often, they have used the local people themselves and know who is good. You might also try Angie's List. I had good luck with a handyman from there. Good Luck!

Re: Computer Technical Support, first off what is the
problem you are having Michelle? Not sure what they charge, but Giga Parts 256 535-4442 has puter geeks that know their stuff. 1426-B Paramount Drive Huntsville (Just off University west of 255 and all the car dealerships on to the right). I bought all the components to build one from them last year and they really talked geek speak...lol. Be happy to help you myself if I can. I will be out that way tomorrow night.

Thanks, Shoshana & Jim.
I have heard about Angie's List in the past but hadn't check it out. I will. Jim, thanks for the recommendation. It's tough to find someone who really knows their stuff. I'm not in a crisis mode or anything. HP's Help Desk eventually solved my audio problem, but I will need some routine maintainence (sp?) soon (when my service agreement ends). I also have an old laptop that I'm not ready to toss.
