Google Maps for Mobile
I used this website to send a text message to my BlackBerry and downloaded Google Maps for Mobile. http://www.google.com/mobile/products/maps.html#p=blackberry
According to the website, I should be able to get:
My Location See your location on a map, even if you don't have GPS. Business listings. Search for any business or category of interest. Driving directions. Thanks to My Location, you don't even have to enter your starting point. Latitude. See your friends' locations and status messages. Start Maps and then select "Join Latitude." Transit & walking directions. Get routes and schedules to travel via subway, bus, or on foot. Street View. View street-level imagery of businesses and turns in directions. Traffic. Real-time traffic helps you find the fastest route.
All I get on my BlackBerry is a map of the US, Canada & South America with a blinking blue dot in the area of my location of Raleigh, NC. I don't know how to get the map of my area and the other features.
I have posted an inquiry on two forums - BlackBerry Curve 8310 and Google Maps Mobile - and no one has responded.

Hi Lynn, I use that app all the time.
Have you tried the Blackberry button? The one to the left of your trackball? That should bring up a menu of options.
The blinking blue dot means that it is working. If it were gray, that's bad.
Zoom in with the 'I' key on your keyboard, and out with the 'O'.

Thanks, Marian - you have come to my rescue with the BlackBerry again!
As you suggested, I used the BlackBerry button and was able to zoom in on my location. I didn't see a choice to locate a business listing, though. I was with a friend in Annapolis last weekend who was able to find a restaurant that served crabs using the feature.
How did you learn how to use Google Maps for Mobile? Are there user instructions somewhere? I couldn't find instructions - I am not very techie and am not good at figuring things out!

Lynn, after hitting the Blackberry button, select "Search Map" and then just search for whatever you want. it can be key words, store names or a full address. For example, my recent searches are:
lowes bead store gas walmart bbq italian mexican bofa atm glendale civic auditorium
it will then search for business or listings near your location.
I just learned to use it through trial and error and with experience using the web based version fo so long. It's very similar
