HP 4200 Help Please
Just purchased a HP 4200 with two paper trays. Printer recognizes the extra paper tray (500 sheet Tray 3). Printer recognizes paper size = letter in tray 2 and legal in tray 3.
Printer Properties recognize tray 3.
If it is a letter size document, it will automatically print it out on letter.
If it is a legal size document, it will automatically print it out on legal.
I can not seem to get it to print everything on legal.
I tried - click on properties, click on paper source and change - automatically to Tray 3, I click on paper size and select legal.
If it was prepared as a letter doc, it will only print it only on letter.
Can not seem to tell it to print entire package on Legal.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Did you UN check the box that says "Choose paper source by PDF page size" or something similar? It will come up in the print box when you request to print.

If all else fails could you just load legal size paper into all trays then it will have no choice but to print on legal?
My Hp dual tray I can load either tray with letter or legal or all the same.

Yes, I did UN check the box that says "Choose paper source by PDF page size"
And Yes, I have had a few companies that tell me to print everything on Legal, even after I told them I had dual tray printer.
I am sure it has to be something minor.
I do have another printer, just wanting to learn everything that this HP 4200 will do.
Purchased this Refurbished 4200 that only had 20000 pages printed with the extra tray for 125.00 with shipping.
Thanks

Ebay Auction. There were several for about the same price.

Also, just curious...
Is this a request for a closing that all docs be printed on legal? If so, I would let the hiring entity know that you do have a dual tray, and they will typically say to print both letter and legal if capable.

HP 4200 Help Please
I have a TC recently that specified all legal size UNLESS I could print them all correctly on the right size, which I did.
I had an HP 2200 Dual Tray and recently bought an HP4300 on eBay for $169 with both trays. Drove to Columbus myself to pick it up and I am glad I did (to get a setup that worked).
I had the same 'problem' with the 2200. "They" (the printer and HP) don't consider that to be a problem - usually you WANT it to automatically select the correct paper size based on what is coming to the printer. Checking or UNchecking the box on the Adobe Reader screen doesn't affect this "problem" at all. In fact I UNcheck it so that I can print all borrower's docs on letter size - that does work.
At least the 4300 has a front panel (the 4200 does too?) where you can set the paper size that you have in the trays. All I can suggest is putting legal size paper in both trays; and then setting both trays to letter and try it or setting both trays to legal and try it. You want to hope that it defaults to whatever paper size you have in there and prints anyway, or else it will not print at all because "you" don't have the right size paper in there for the pages that are coming at it.
good luck and let us know it you work it out!
