Local Referrals
I would love to get together a few notaries in my area of PA. that I can refer work back and forth with. I know I cover 3 main counties in Northeastern Pa and sometimes get calls for my other counties of coverage that I'll take, but that are a little farther than I want to travel. If there is another signing agent with over 5 years of experience that works in Carbon, Susquehanna, Pike and/or Monroe Counties, write and let me know if we can maybe refer work in our primary areas of coverage, to each other.... I don't want to refer work to someone that does not have a lot of experience. I, myself, have been doing real estate closings for over 20 years and I have never had a problem with undersigning, notary errors or anything of the sort.... I'd love to hear from someone.

You can always go to Find a Notary here and make a list of those notaries in your area, check their profiles, and refer callers to them when you cannot accept a signing. That's what I do.

Great Response
Thanks for that advise, but honestly I got emails from quite a few people in other areas of PA and we've set up the arrangement to refer each other. I figured this might be easier. I didn't want to overlook anyone, nor did I want to be overlooked. I figured a post like this would get response only from those interested.... and it worked. :-)

Re: Great Response
Joanne, I have tried to do the same thing in my area of Ohio. I did get their names from this site. The Notaries I emailed never ever replied! I did have an NSA contact me asking if I could meet her for coffee. I agreed and when I arrived at the meeting place I got stood up! No call and I never heard from her again..All I wanted to do is meet others in this area share ideas and to send some work their way..At least you got a response.

Re: Great Response
Claudine, I am very happy that I did receive responses. Sometimes my work is overwhelming and i'm getting calls for closings outside my areas of immediate coverage. I hate turning them down and would love the opportunity to recommend someone else. After all, I believe networking is the best way to get the best from this business. Try posting again. Maybe more SAs have joined that would be willing to network with you.

A small handful of us have "connected" in our area but that's it. Throughout the years I've tried to reach out to some others west of me in areas I don't cover and have been rebuffed each time. I get calls routinely and have no one to recommend ... sad because I know there are fulltime agents in those counties.

It's a tough issue to get a good relationship with other notaries. The nature of the business makes it highly competitive, and some are overly concerned with the competition. Why not try establishing a "network". I know of several that have been set up that work very well.

I would love to keep referrals going between SAs near me. I think it's advantageous to have someone you can refer in case you get a call from a company you like to deal with. They appreciate the help finding the other SA and the SA appreciates the referral. It can really be beneficial all the way around.
