New and need HELP!

Hello everyone! I'm new and have tons of questions and no one to answer them! I just recently received my Commission in DE......first question, can I have a Commission in more than one State? I live in MD, but work in DE. I'm interested in having both.

Second.....did you take a course to learn how to be a signing agent? I'm an insurance agent and have only done simple one signature doc's....like witnessing signatures on Affidavits. I'm not even sure what a jurat is!!! I know I sound like an idiot, but I want to learn!

Thanks so much!!!

Shannon

Shannon. start reading Message #33325

Use the orange search button for queries, then come back here to ask questions that aren't answered by using the 2 resources I have mentioned.
Welcome aboard!

You can start by searching under message 33325. Further, I think DE is an attorney only state, and doesn't allow NSA's.

Another State that has no educational requirement! What a shame.

Yes to both, DE is an attorney state and MD is a TPL State

My husband is commissioned in both. In De he can do modifications, equity or 2nd re-fi but not 1st refi or purchase. In Md he has a title producers license though the law is ambiguious in that it reads must have a tpl if "it will or may result in the issuance of title insurance." Unfortunately that opens the door for unlicensed signing agents who are willing to take the chance. I close at a couple of banks when there is title insurance involved, otherwise it is done in house by one of their notaries.

Re: New and need HELP!..Shannon

"first question, can I have a Commission in more than one State? I live in MD, but work in DE. I'm interested in having both." Isn't this addressed in your handbook?

"...... I'm not even sure what a jurat is!!!" And you're commissioned?? You really need to go back and study....a LOT...

Sorry - my opinion....this is really really frightening....IMO you shouldn't have a commission in ANY state right now....if you don't know what a jurat is you are doing a serious disservice to anyone who retains your notarial services...

Re: New and need HELP!..Shannon..hit enter too soon

As for loan signings? You need to get your notarial basics down pat before you attempt to facilitate anyone's financial matters...

But that's just MHO....so in the opinion that this is a troll...
