All printers are PCL compatible. PCL means Printer Command Language. Most printers are PCL6 today, but all commands are backwards compatible, which is that the printer will print docs that are composed on the latest version of whatever source produced it. You should have no problems with printing from MS Word or PDF files or whatever. HTH.

Sorry Allan, but not all printers are PCL compatible. Only laser printers are. And only HP printers support PCL natively, all other brands emulate PCL. Granted, most printers today will support PCL 6, but some refurbished, older business printers do not. They support PCL 4 and possibly PCL 5e, but many do not support PCL 6.
Printing from applications such as MS Word, Adobe Reader, notepad, etc., will print just fine to any Windows supported printer, including PCL compatible laser printers. The apps will also print to printers that use the Windows Graphic Device Interface (GDI) engine which does not support PCL, and printers that support PostScript (PS).
