Question regarding sending title another ACK

Title co. called and said my notary stamp on the DOT acknowledgement was not legible. They want me to send them another ACK with clear impression. This signing happened in June... would this be considered backdating by sending them a clear copy with signing date?

First question is it possible that there is a unclear stamp?
Second question - did they fax/e-mail you a copy of the stamp in quetion?
They may be trying to cover a mistake, lost paper, or ????

Have them send you the original and restamp it.

I had to reorder a new stamp a couple of weeks ago because of the quality of impression (don't buy stamps from Staples). So, I do believe the impression was probably unclear. Having them send me the ACK to re-stamp is a good idea. Thanks

Never!

It was a new stamp I'd just received from Staples after renewing my commission. After a couple of signings I new I needed to order a new one from NNA.

Re: Never!

The stamps sold here on Notary Rotary are much better than the one I ordered from the NNA when I first started out, and you will receive your order within about 2 days. The exception is the Vision stamp - that one was disappointing from a quality of impression standpoint.

I called the SOS office...and actually got to talk with someone. They said the only legal way to correct this was to have them send back the ACK page for me to restamp....just what you suggested. Thanks

If it was your stamp, it would be a consideration to pay for the back/forth shipping IMHO.

Never, ever send a loose ack!

Some companies have a bad habit of putting an extra acknowledgement for in the package "just in case". Other times you will get a request for a loose ack becaue there was (supposedly) some kind of problem with the original. Don't fall for it! You don't know what document your loose ack could be attached to!

Just don't do it.
