Red Alert...
I just accepted, then gave back an assignment from Denise Thompson, whose phone number is in VA and she held herself out to be an agent of Equity Land Title Group, of Baltimore, MD. I discovered that there are Notaries that have not been paid and her confirmation lists no address or land line. The phone number she gives is unlisted and the invoice is to be emailed to her at [e-mail address]. ELTG does not list her on their roster of employees and I suspect that she is a Notary trying to be a SS. Beware!!

Re: Red Alert...why did you turn it back?
There are many notaries who farm out signings...I have several that call me on occasion .... Unless I know the notary I don't normally take the assignments because (A) I don't care to split the fee with another notary - I'd rather be contracted by the title company directly, and (B) they almost never meet my fee. However, IF they meet my fee I'd probably take it but keep a record of the title company in my file for future reference. IMO your payment status is the same whether you take the assignment from a notary or a signing service...in fact, they're probably easier to sue for the money as an individual than as a company that closes its doors or shields itself under some flimsy corporate screen.

Re: Red Alert...why did you turn it back?
I posted about her a few days ago in another thread. I had trouble getting paid. She outright lied to me and said she worked for ELTG and to invoice them. They said I worked for her as a siging service and she had been paid. They went back and forth between the two of them for a while (what did it matter ... pay me and straighten your books out yourselves on your own time). I followed up and ELTG had ZERO recollection of the goings on so I had to start over. Took quite a while to get my money ... all because she lied when I questioned her about her generic/nonexistent contact info.

Re: Red Alert...why did you turn it back?
I'm sorry, I do not understand anything that you have written about Denise! I have conducted closings for her with ELTG during the past 2 years and I have NEVER had a problem with getting paid. I get paid within 30 days of submitting my invoice to her. My checks come from Denise and I will tell you...I have spoken to different people with ELTG when there have been problems with docs, etc and they know I got the closing through Denise. The whole thing is on the up and up. If you are smart, you will ignore any bad notes made about Denise. She is outstanding to work for, and I plan to continue working for her when ever she calls on me. Just because one person may have had a bad experience with anything in this world, doesn't mean they need to tarnish it for everyone else. You judge for yourself!!!! Personally, if I get a bad deal with a company one time, it doesn't mean I quit working for them. I will give everyone a second chance. You have to remember all closings involves SEVERAL people and you could just be blaming the wrong one!

Re: Red Alert...why did you turn it back?
Google is my friend....there were posts on other boards saying that they haven't been paid as far back as 2007. Also, she held herself out as an employee of ELTG, not a SS or notary who was referring. I need the work....I DON'T need the hassle.

Makes it hard to thrive as a slime ball, no account SS with this board's RED ALERTS and collaborative responses by members...thanks for posting.

Thanks for the alert. From what you're describing this is out & out fraud, and IMO you should report her to the SOC in VA.

I apologize for this remark. It was unfounded & based on accusations made in this thread.

This is crazy
Her email is: [e-mail address] Her # is: (703) 675-8893 Her office is in Gainesville, Virginia She works with various title companies including: ELTG, Atlantic Title, Advantage Title, First National Title, and more. Call any of those title companies if you want to talk to them about her credibility. She is credible and completely legite. She schedules for those title companies, and like a previous thread mentioned, she farms out the notaries. That's why you are on this site, obviously, to hopefully get work from someone like her.
Any other questions?

A suggestion
If she wants to avoid this kind of rep, it would be very helpful for her to set herself up as a signing service with a business name, business address, etc. And be sure to pay EVERYONE so that she can avoid the negative press, as well. To most of us, sharing this kind of information is one of the most important aspects of being part of online notary communities.

Re: This is crazy
I also questioned the comcast address, I called ELTG and was reasurred that they knew her. I did two signings in July and this AM received checks for both from the E&E closing company. I was not familiar with that name and had to go back and check to see who I did the signing for. iWould I have accepted a signing from E&E --I doubt it, but with so many of us being wary about deadbeats, she should be a bit more forthcoming.
