Reliable Settlement Service
Has anyone received the letter from Reliable Settlement Services, advising that they are filing bankruptcy and asking that you take 20% as your payment on any past due invoices? It really is starting to get aggravating. It's about the 4th company this year that has filed bankruptcy and left my outstanding invoices "outstanding forever"....

This seems to be a pattern with the owner - didn't he own Final Step which also went BK owing many notaries??? Then he opened up a new shop as Reliable Settlements.... I wonder what his new company name will be when he opens up shop again???

I did not know it was the same owner as the Final Step, otherwise I definitely would not have taken work to begin with.

Why not ask the Maryland AG what they think of a company that shuts down owing people money ... reopens a brand new company, doing the exact same business with the exact same clients ... and then shuts down again owing monies.
I certainly don't know the legal definition and application of fraud but this sounds to me like it's close enough to ask someone to look into it. A criminal case may extract restitution while a civil case probably won't result in any payments.
By the way, he's been "on my radar" for about a decade so this is nothing new.

I was thinking the same thing, Sue. Especially because he's in MD & they have really tightened up the industry there. Also, Reliable isn't listed in Signing Central & needs to be.

I just received the same letter. It's interesting how we're supposed to feel sorry for the owner but the letter never mentions who that individual is. I did three signings for them as an attorney, got paid on the first immediately, the second a few weeks ago and it looks like I'm getting 20% on this last one.
Does anyone know who the owner is and his relation to Millard Rubenstein and Resource Real Estate Services? I did some digging on the secretary of state website and the internet.

Past posts have identified the owner as Gary Plummer.
