Shipping FedEx with NO account number to bill...

This was the first time I ever did this. Had a SS call me and booked me for a split signing. I couldn't do it until 5:45 p.m., but told her that if they would ship FedEx that I would be able to get them on the truck and to them tomorrow. They had no FedEx account. Here, you can forget getting something out UPS after 6:00, even at the terminal. They are done and gone at 6:00 p.m.. I used to be able to get docs out UPS up until 9:00 p.m., but that was last year and it's not like that anymore. Therefore, the only way was FedEx.

So, she tells me to check to bill recipient and don't put an account number on there. I felt a little uneasy about that but, hey, she's the boss. Filled out the air bill with the recipient and sender being the same, as I didn't want them returning the envelope to me. LOL The person behind the counter was busy with other customers ahead of me so I dropped the envelope on the counter where they weigh them and he acknowledge that I had layed it on the counter and thanked me. I layed it there with the air bill down so he wouldn't catch that it didn't have an account number on it. LOL Went back to the office and tracked it and it's set to be delivered by noon tomorrow to Oquawka, IL, which is where the SS is located. Looks like it'll work, but I did feel a little uneasy about doing that.

This was my first closing for this SS, which was Secure Settlement, Inc.. She asked me if I had a FedEx account and that they would pay me for it if I would use mine. I said I didn't have one, although I do. No info on this company, no history working for them, so I'm sure not gonna take the risk of being out my print fee, time, and then possibly have to eat the FedEx fee....nope, not me.

I emailed them my Invoice and a W-9 and copied the FedEx tracking info into the email showing that it had been scanned in and the delivery time. FedEx got it, they scanned it in, I followed the instructions they gave me, and it appears it's gonna get delivered. Never did this before, and will email Becky tomorrow to make sure she got it. I felt uncomfortable doing it that way, but it appears that it'll work and they just cut the FedEx guy a check when he delivers it. Just a little out of the ordinary. Most companies have both FedEx and UPS accounts so it's not usually an issue.

Is funny that they being a ss don't have a FedEx number. I am glad FedEx will charge them and not you. But what would happen if they refuse to pay and you end up with the bill?

My name is not on the air bill anywhere. I put them on there as the sender as well as the recipient. I get preprinted airbills that come in like that sometimes from TCs or SSs. They can't bill me because they don't know who the real sender is, unless they open it and get it off my Invoice inside the envelope.

Not even when they send you a prepaid? Most of my prepaid have my name as the sender. I guess I have to change the way I ship things 99% of the time I use my name as a sender and I use the reference line too (the one in the middle of FedEx).

bye

I forgot about this $25, but back to filing suit again

Edgar E. Fletcher, Jr., the President and registered agent for service for Secure Settlements, Inc. lied to me on October 8, 2009. He said he would send the balance of my fee personally that day. We see what his word is worth as it's now October 20, 2009, and I still don't have it. No wonder they couldn't keep their FedEx account. GEEEZ, to think that these folks actually wanted me to use my own FedEx account and ship them these docs and then they REIMBURSE ME? I am so thankful that I wasn't that stupid. I didn't have to think about that for a split second when they asked me to do that before I told them NO WAY!

Had absolutely no problems working with them until it came down to getting paid, which is what we all work for in performing our services. I don't expect to get cheated out of ANY of my fee on any closing I perform to perfection, as I did this one. I documented this one profusely, as they had no FedEx account.

I have absolutely no desire to sue this company, but I'm not going to walk away from them shorting me either. I sent the man an email and he has one more shot at getting this covered before he leaves me with no alternative, other than to write it off which I'm not going to do.
