This is it...
FASS emailed me and said the signing I am doing tomorrow for them will be my last unless I get the NNA background check. Not going to happen. Yes, I always got my fee. I didn't have the lowball problems I have read about.

hmmm...wonder if they will call you the next time there's a closing close to you when they can't find anyone who has the required NNA BGC. Some of these companies try to bluff you into paying something but if they really need you, they excuse you from the requirements.

Zana,
They haven't done that to me yet...but I'm waiting.
Nah, I wouldn't worry too much.
It's a matter of perspective: if you do $500 worth of business with them a year..that's one thing...if it's $5,000 that's another.
My take on it is...regardless of a background check...if they're desperate and need you, the
background check will fade into the fog.
It's kind of like: if you have a $10,000 loan at the bank and you can't pay...you're in trouble.
If you have a 10-million dollar loan at the bank and you can't pay....the bank's in trouble.

Interesting. Did you ask for THEIR credential--proof of E & O, license, etc.????

Naw....
Since they have always met my fee I figure it must be hard to find others to work for them. I have been averaging 1-2 a month with them but have been closing for them for years. I said my piece when they called me about the BGC.

I got that email back in the fall of '08 with a cut off of Dec. 1st.
I only worked for them when they met my fee, but true to their word I have not heard a peep from them since Nov 15th.
I did send them a reply explaining my refusal to hand any more of my hard earned money over to an organization who I felt was only a money making machine and certainly not the advocate of the notary as they claim to be.
I haven't lost much sleep over it.
