To all that Responded About Fax Backs.
I agree with all of your comments. That fee is what I was thinking fro the start.
No it is not because of the mistakes that are made, it is the Lender requseting this PITA.
I hope most of you know, I am not one of the SS that is Cheap, and I do let the notaries know right up fron that there will many pages to fax back. ( Telling the truth will get you a lot further than any lie. )
Again, thanks for all the comments.

I know I'm late to respond to the Fax Backs thread. Just curious..why "Fax", which usually involves a land line or an internet faxing service. (additional overhead).
Is there a reason why documents can't be scanned and emailed back? For me, this is a much faster process.
But to repeat everything everyone said, extra charge, maybe not same day drop off.
Sorry about the response being a day late and pennies short!!
Good day all!!

scan n email is great, but Fax is going to TC not SS
and most times you will not get the email addy of the TC rep. Chase Loans are must of had a lot of issues in the past. Heck there was a time you had to IM them when you got there, when you left big check list of things. What a PITA.. so much better when you work for them directly.

Faxback or scan and e-mail - doesn't matter - they both require additional time added to the signing not the mention requiring returning to the office before dropping the package ... for me, since I'm very rural, depending on my schedule that can become a real problem and can disrupt my entire day.

I totally agree with you Linda, especially if you're trying to schedule several jobs in a row, that means coming back to the office, late and faxing late...it's almost a given that the package won't be dropped off until the next day.

Not to mention, some of them require that you wait until after they call you back for approval to drop.

Agree 110% here too. Rural hrere and 99% of the time it will result in docs being delayed a day for shipment. PIA to have to come all the back to the office when all shippers are downtown. If I can ship right after signing chances are they'll have the doc in the morning - if I have to come back to the office to fax, they cause the delay.

I'm not rural, but I agree with you - and many others - that the key issue is the disruption in scheduling and the extra sorting time. I imagine that for most of us, the FedEx cutoff time is right in the middle of prime signing hours. I might be able to do a quick drop-off in between appointments, but not if I first have to get back to my office to fax back. (Of course, a toll-free number would be nice, too, unless scanned will be acceptable. I also haven't found it worthwhile to have unlimited LD on my land line.)
Tony, thanks for being up front with us about this issue, and sticking up for us with your client!

Re: My experience....
I have found the request to fax back buried inside the loan docs. I don't always change for fax backs if it is a few pages. But I do charge $25 for fax backs if I am not told that they are requested up front. I just make a copy of the request and send it in along with my invoice showing the charge. I have never had the charge not paid.

Re: Pet Peeves
What I hate is a list of 20+ specific docs to be faxed. Most of the time, at least 4 of the specified docs are not in the packet or they are a different variation of the title. When I used to call about the discrepancy, the answer was always "oh yeah, don't worry about it!"
Easy to say, after I've taken the packet apart 4 times to try to find the "missing" docs! Also, it would be nice if doc request listed the items in the order that they were sent!
Also, the longer the list, the more likely it is that you are paying for the phone charge!
